Pet care experience
I’ve had pets my entire life. Since moving in my own apartment I’ve taken care of my own pets as well as family, friends, and neighbors pets. I am an online student who is home every day. I am free and available to be your pets home away from home. I can commit to frequent walks and outside time. I am currently a student so I am available for you all the time lol. I have set walks but I am available for boarding 24/7, holidays and weekends included. I accommodate last minute stay and I am very responsible. I have a fenced dog run and frequently visit the park nearby. I’ve committed to walks and/or outside play every 3-4 hours. Pets have free range at my home unless owner states otherwise.
Reviews
It’s taken me several months to finally write this review because my emotions, over what happened to my dog while in Jakhalia’s care to the response from Rover, have gone between feeling enraged to horrified. I needed to board my two pups in mid October, so this was my second booking with Jakhalia after having a pretty successful experience with her a month earlier. During a check-in via text, she relayed that one of my dogs had “scratched” the other. I know they can get a little rowdy with each other, so I asked if any blood was drawn and she yes, but the dogs were okay. When I picked up the dogs a few days later, I immediately knew that one of my dogs was not okay. He was shivering, lethargic, and there was a significant amount of dried blood and pus on the top of his head and over one of his eyes. I asked her again what happened and she insisted that my other dog had made the “scratches”. She did add that she had put some liquid bandage over his injuries. Once I got them home, I called an veterinary ER clinic because he appeared to be getting worse and was refusing to eat or drink water. When the vet examined him, I was told his injuries were not scratches at all and were actually bite/puncture wounds and would require antibiotics for his infection and several sutures. He also had a scratched cornea. Basically, my dog was mauled!!! I asked if my other dog could have caused the injuries and was it was possible, but highly unlikely given the location and size of the puncture wound. Both of my dogs are Chihuahua mixes and are roughly 14-15 lbs. After hearing what the vet told me, I contacted again Jakhalia to ask if there was any way possible that my dogs had come in contact with another dog and she assured me they hadn’t. When I showed her the pictures of my dog after the vet visit, she apologized profusely and offered to refund the cost of the boarding. When I followed up with Rover to see what recourse I had, they informed me that I would be responsible for up to $250 of any expenses that I had incurred in vet bills (nearly $600) and that they weren’t responsible for any incident that occurred while my dogs were in Jakhalia’s care when I asked them for a refund for the boarding. I told them that she had offered to refund my fee, to which they said that she was financially not in a position to do so. They eventually did knock $200 off after I kept emailing them. So, bottom line is that Jakhalia was unwilling or unable to tell me exactly what happened to my dog while in her care, so I can’t recommend her. And buyer beware when using this app; make sure you check out your sitter thoroughly; be sure to read ALL of the disclosures; and ask a lot more questions when booking with someone! Next time, I’m just taking my dogs with me!
This was my first time using Rover and leaving my little monsters with someone else, in their home. However, upon meeting Jakhalia, I felt a bit more comfortable about leaving them with her, especially when she told me that she was a vet student and worked at one of the community pet organizations. My travel schedule changed somewhat, but she was able to accommodate my drop off and pick up times. We were in constant communication throughout their stay and she also sent me lots of pics. When I picked them up, their greeting of me was a bit lukewarm as they clung to her. I was feeling a certain kind of way about that! But overall, it was a good experience for me and my fur babies, so we’ll definitely book with her again.
Only reason I am giving one star is because she was flexible about the time. I didn't see her apartment but my dog was noticbly upset the whole time he was there. Upon picking him up he was extremely dehydrated. So much that his poop was like little hard rocks. I had to stop and get bottles of water in order for him to even walk. And he smelled awful. Never will use this person again.
Jakhalia did a great job with our puppy. She sent daily updates and was so loving to my scared pup. Now that my pup is home I can tell she’s missing her fun with Jakhalia.

Information Jakhalia B. would like to know about your pet
I’d like to know if your dog has behavioral, medical, or any other traits that would contribute to m the care they receive. I like all pets to feel welcomed and to have a great stay.
A typical day
I love to simulate dogs both physically and mentally. We spend a few hours a day at the park if the weather permits, and when we are inside I have a bunch of toys and other things to challenge their minds. A typical walk lasts between 30-40 minutes and they occur every 3-4 hours
