Pet care experience
I am a Pre-Vet/Animal Science major at UMass Amherst with plans to graduate in Fall 2020. I have been accepted to Tufts Veterinary School in Grafton and will be heading there in Fall 2021. I have been taking care of pets since I was about 6 years old, sitting for my neighbors, walking their dogs, and even taking care of my own pets. I volunteered at Hopkinton Animal Shelter from 2016-2018, walking, socializing, and working with dogs of all breeds and personalities. At UMass, I work with a program to train service dogs for people with disabilities using only positive reinforcement training methods. In 2018, I interned at Milford Animal Hospital for the summer, learning how to treat small and exotic animals. In 2019, I interned at Southwicks Zoo, taking care of the large carnivorous and hoofed animals, including lions, tigers, giraffes and camels. I have also been riding horses for 6 years as well. I am an officer of the UMass Equestrian Team and am responsible for the health and care of our horses. As an Animal Science major at UMass, I have experience taking care of goats, sheep, beef cattle, and horses through their animal management courses. Since I have been pet-sitting for several years, I have experience with all types of household pets. Basically, I am comfortable around all animals. Because of my background in dog training, I can also handle particularly rambunctious puppies and more difficult dogs. As I have interned at an animal clinic, I have confidence in administering basic medication/care that may come along with taking care of animals. I love to play with animals of all kinds, especially dogs, and I will make sure that they have the time of their lives! I love to go on long walks through the woods and play around in areas like dog parks if they’re up for it! I am a college student, so I am mostly available during holiday breaks and during winter and summer breaks. I am also a part-time employee at TJMaxx, which also inhibits my availability. However, I currently have no pets so I do not have other responsibilities at home that may impede my availability. My home is not available to take board dogs because I still live with my parents, who have decided to not allow more pets into the home.

Jacky took great care of my old, and somewhat infirm, labradoodle. She had to administer medication, and tend to him while I was abroad. I got updates, and felt assured that Jacky was giving my dog a wonderful time. Julie
Jacky came to us at a time where our pup was extremely compromised after cataract surgery. She needed multiple eye drops, was wearing an e-collar, and was taking oral medications. Her walks needed to be carefully monitored because she refused to go to the bathroom when she was wearing the e-collar (couldn’t sniff the ground). Knowing all of this and sharing a brief meet and greet with Daisy, Jacky rose to the challenge. Daisy’s vision is returning and we continue to put our trust in Jacky for lunchtime walks and medication. She sends wonderful updates and pictures which put our minds at ease!
Jacky did a wonderful job caring for my yorkie, Oliver. He has several health issues and she administered his many medications and cared for him very patiently and lovingly. I will definitely be using her services again!
Jacky is great! She’s watched my terrier on multiple occasions, being enthusiastic and excited to play with my pup. She is always on time and responsive, sending pictures of her visits so we knew my dog was in good hands! I will definitely use her again in the future!
