Gentle and Patient Animal Lover
Pet care experience
I have been sitting dogs for years, of all ages. I have fostered 3 month old puppies, dogs from unknown backgrounds, and more, at my apartment while in college. I frequently volunteer at animal shelters to play with and walk dogs in need. I'm very playful with dogs, but I am strict when necessary and timely with feeding times. I have experience sitting cats over the past few years including giving insulin shots. I recently adopted my own cat and have started to love cats more than I ever expected. I have been sitting through Rover for 8+ years, and am willing to travel in/near Alexandria. I have my radius set low but please still message me if I'm outside your radius. And in case this wasn't a given, I absolutely love animals! This job is what relaxes me and makes me happy. Can't wait to meet more canines and felines :)
Reviews
She followed all instructions and took great care of bristow. Recommend!
Jackie was great! She kept us informed all weekend long with pictures and updates. Our dog really seemed to enjoy her. We came home to a well relaxed, stress free pup, and a very clean house! We highly recommend Jackie. She seems to really enjoy what she does!
Jackie took great care of my Emmy- she was able to schedule a drop-in the day before I needed some last minute help, was timely and professional. I would recommend her to anyone needing a drop-in for their pet!
Very pleased with Jaclyn's care of our kitty! She did great and would definitely call her again!

I likely won't care for pets in my own home but if I were to, there is a lovely walking path around my apartment complex. I do live on the 4th floor with no elevator though, so for handicapped dogs I would need to be able to carry them up and down stairs (sadly no large handicapped dogs). I live in a large space where the animals would be welcome to roam and keep me company at one of my desks while I work remotely. Of course, they must do well with my two cats.
Information Jackie H. would like to know about your pet
Bathroom behaviors. What they are afraid of. What to do if they won't stop barking. What to do if I lose hold of them outdoors. What are their favorite activities.
A typical day
I’ll follow instructions from the owner, but if they were my own dogs I would: Wake up at 9am, take outdoors to go to the bathroom. Go for 0.5-1 mile walk around lunch time. Bathroom break around 4pm. Play time in the evening. Bathroom break again around 10-11pm and in a crate for the first overnight, and possible out of the crate for future nights depending on behavior. Also depending on age and medical needs, may increase bathroom break frequency.

Availability
I work remote so it's easy for me to do dropins as needed. For house sitting, I can stay all day as long as you have decent internet.
