All species welcome! 🐕🐈🐇🦜🐠🦎

Pet care experience

Hello! I am a graduate student living in Queens, NY with my partner Lucas, our senior cat Bonnie and our five bettas Patrick, Ambrose, Iggy, Dave and Kelvin. With over 15 years experience looking after a variety of furry, feathered and scaly companions, I am prepared to offer the highest quality care for every member of your household. While I am not able to specify species requirements in my service listings, please note that I am prepared and available to look after a variety of animals, including but not limited to dogs, cats, rabbits, mice, rats, reptiles, amphibians, fishes (aquarium or pond) and birds. While I regret that I am unable to house dogs and cats for extended periods of time I am, however, still available for in-home drop-in visits for all species. My qualifications include a lifetime of pet ownership, twelve years riding horses, fostering senior cats and volunteering at animal shelters including the ACC and ASPCA. I have one year of experience working at a farmed animal sanctuary as a full-time caregiver for a variety of species, including rabbits, ducks, chickens, turkeys, guinea fowl, goats, sheep, cows, pigs and horses. In addition to my own fish, have over two years of experience caring for koi and goldfish living in outdoor ponds and am well educated in freshwater aquarium science. I am proficient in basic veterinary first aid (wound care, administering medication (oral and injection), monitoring vital signs, emergency response, etc.) and enjoy learning about animal physiology and behavior. I am also big fan of exercise and would love to take your pup for neighborhood strolls, walks and runs. I am naturally calm, gentle and assertive with animals, making me a great fit for particularly energetic trainees and/or pets suffering from separation anxiety. Speaking of anxiety, I know how stressful it can be to leave your pets for an extended period of time, especially those who require specialized medical or behavioral care. I will do almost anything* in my power to keep you updated on your friends’ wellbeing while you are away including regular check-ins + photos and videos, Skype or Zoom sessions, etc. *I draw the line at smuggling animals into carry-on luggage. ;) I am ready and willing to provide your companion with the specialized care and individual attention they deserve. Rehabilitating abused and neglected animals has given me the knowledge, experience and patience necessary to accommodate a range of personalities and temperaments. I welcome species of all sizes, shapes and life-stages. I look forward to hearing from you!

Information Isabel F. would like to know about your pet

I do not have any breed or species preferences - all shapes and sizes are welcome! Prior to departing I ask that you provide the following information: - Relevant medical history: spay/neuter status, vaccination and medication history, pertinent health conditions, allergies and food intolerance, etc. - Diet: what, when and how much do you feed your animal? Do they have any dietary restrictions? Is there anything else I should know about their eating habits? - Behavior: what does your animal’s daily routine typically include? How well do they interact with humans and other animals? Do they have a particularly strong reaction to any environmental triggers such as revving engines, thunderstorms or fireworks? - Obedience training: does your dog know any commands? Are there any commands or behaviors (such as house-training) that you would like me to work on during our time together? - Likes and dislikes - Walking style Please feel free to include anything else you would like me to know! The more information, the better. For exotic clients: in addition to the above I ask to be provided with any relevant information pertaining to your pet’s habitat (humidity, temperature, maintenance, etc.). If you are unsure about what information to include I am happy to provide you with a species-specific questionnaire sheet to ensure your expectations are met.
