YOUR DOG'S HOME AWAY FROM HOME Welcome to DC: District of Canine! Let me introduce myself. I love all dogs, big and small, but prefer small to medium ones. However, I will make an exception for full-size Greyhounds just because I can't resist the breed. I've been a dog owner for over 10 years. My gang consists of 2 whippets and an Italian Greyhound. We all like snuggling on the couch, going to a park, meeting new friends and playing. I've been boarding friends' dogs for awhile and finally decided to make myself known to other local pets. I am home full time, so every dog gets my full attention :-) My inspiration is not a kennel or boarding facility but a deluxe dog hotel in the center of Adams Morgan--YOUR DOG'S HOME AWAY FROM HOME. My loft has a garden which is great for going out to potty in bad weather. In good weather, we use it for hanging out. We also have 3 dog parks and the Meridian park within the walking distance. Irina was so accommodating and helped me out at the last minute. My puppy, Monty, absolutely loved hanging out with her and the rest of the dogs! He couldn’t wait to get back there the second day running up the stairs. Irina really takes great care of the dogs and creates a fun but structured environment. She was quick to send updates and post photos, and made sure he was comfortable being the new guy in town. We will definitely be back!
Irina treated our Matilda like her own, with love, kindness, and patience! Matilda was so happy and enjoyed getting the opportunity to socialize and play with other pups. Irina responds very quickly, shares photos and videos, and is always available to reassure you and give updates. We are very grateful and will definitely be coming back to Irina and leave our baby in her capable hands.

I have a fenced yard with an artificial grass spot for dogs to go potty. My own dogs are very elderly and mostly sleep. There is also an emergency potty for when a need strikes. Certain areas of my home (like my bedroom and kitchen) are off limits and are blocked off. I feed dogs separately so there is no stealing food!

I always ask new dogs to come in for a very short sniff and greet meeting to make sure he/she feels comfortable in my house. I need vet’s contacts and information about Allergies, Fears and dislikes and favorite things to do.

I am home full time so your pup is always supervised. Usually, they have breakfast around 9am, then play, then take a nap. We go out at 12pm and have a snack of apple, pear, banana pieces and have another nap. Second potty break is at 3pm. Daycare usually goes home around 6pm. I post multiple times at day on Instagram @districtofcanine
