Learning to treat pets as a family!

Pet care experience

Growing up, I lived in the countryside of southeast Georgia, far away from the cities where everyone else lived. Because of this, I had no friends as a child, I went to no parties, visited no friends, had nobody come over to see me either. Instead, I spent many of my waking hours walking around the neighborhoods in that area befriending all of the dogs I came across. Because of the 10+ years I spent developing friendships with said dogs, I have a keen eye for picking up on the needs of dogs, and though this means I lack many personal social skills, I never have any issues communicating with dogs in many regards, whether it be training, discipline, or dealing with their various needs and wants. Due to this, I easily bond with most dogs in mere days, if not hours or minutes, and each time I meet a new dog the happier I am! I can walk and visit pets any day between 6PM and 04:00AM. I will be available on the weekends to take care of pets at any time. In addition, I will be available for overnight stays 7 days a week as long as I am permitted to go to work Monday - Friday 6AM to 6PM. This means I would be out of the house around 12 hours every day.

I had Ian watch my dogs and he did an OUTSTANDING job. He made sure to go step-by-step on the list that I left for him. I have trusted him for a year and about 3 months and he always does an awesome job. He cleans after any kind of mess and leaves the house in better shape than when I leave. Ian is a great caretaker!

Ian has always loved animals. He helped care for the pets that we had. In the years that Ian was with us, we had many pets such as birds, cats, turtles, fish and dogs. He is high spirited and loves playing and training dogs to do tricks or commands. He is totally trustworthy to be loving and caring toward your pets. He treats them like part of his family.

I am Ian's mother and he has always loved animals. He has been a dog sitter in the past and is wonderful at it. He is a responsible, hard working young man with a big heart. He is very attentive and really cares about other people. Ian has a soft spot in his heart for animals and their well being. He is perfect for this job!

Information Ian P. would like to know about your pet

I have no breed preferences for watching or walking a dog, though I enjoy the company of larger dogs more than smaller dogs as they tend to be more demanding of attention and full of energy. All I want to know is how aggressive/violent is the dog(I do not mind watching very aggressive dogs as long as I know before hand), where should I AVOID taking that dog if I walk them, what may easily upset the dog/cause them to bite so I do not do such a thing to cause myself to be bit by them, and if the dog is/isn't fixed so I know how closely I should monitor them so they do not go looking for dogs to instigate a fight with or mate with.

A typical day

I will normally walk where the owners want me to walk, and if they do not have a set defined path in mind, I will likely walk the dogs around their neighborhoods, and through a park if one is nearby. If I am asked to watch over the dog, and a walk is requested as a part of that, I will either pet the dogs and engage in VERY light horseplay(I.E. ruffling their ears until they bark, lightly patting their shoulders in quick succession, scratching their belly) with them as a means of developing friendly and playful relations, and then I will pet them to reassure the 'aggression' is only playful, or if the owners have toys their dog enjoys playing with I will use those to entertain the dog.
