Pet care experience

It was by complete accident that I became a pet-sitter. I was working in a pet store for several years, where I would assist the vet while she administered vaccines and medications, and a customer I bonded with asked me to pet sit for her goldendoodle and maltipoo. I had grown up around dogs and have incredible memories learning from my grandmother how to train and care for her three dachshunds. It was during that time that I learned how to take my time to read the dogs’ temperaments and adjust my own behavior accordingly. They were amazing pups but they definitely had their moments! I agreed to pet-sit for my customer and through word of mouth, her friends began to ask me to help them out as well, and I completely fell in love with the job! I find that my clients book with me repeatedly because I am an active listener and really take the time to understand what they are looking for in a pet-sitter. I am incredibly patient with their pups (you have to be!) and use my funny, energetic and caring nature in all aspects of pet-sitting. Bringing humor to your job helps the pups open up, even those who are a bit anxious at first. I take my time and get to know their individual personalities and then treat them with the love and respect that they deserve. I love all temperaments, breeds and sizes of dogs—and I love cats too! Have a high energy dog? No problem—being active is a big part of my life and I have no problem keeping up with even the most energetic of pups. I like to connect with dogs by bringing treats (with permission) and then spending time to understand unique likes and dislikes, followed up with a game or two to earn their trust. I currently work part-time for Fedex from 3 a.m. – 8 a.m., and my schedule never interferes with my pet-sitting responsibilities. This means my calendar is open and flexible and ready to shape to your needs!

Ian was great! I had to go out of town and leave my husky in the backyard. Ian made sure he had water, food, & even took an extra step by making him a little area for some shade. I'ld definitely recommend him. Thanks again Ian!

Ian is very caring towards all animals, especially dogs. Whenever he walks my dog, he makes sure that he is careful and mindful of his surroundings. If there is a big dog coming his way, he makes sure that my dog is safe and friendly towards my dog. And he is always happy to see my dog as well and the feeling is mutual!

Ian has taken care of my 3 dogs for years, he is very loving and plays with them. He walks them and plays with them in the yard,. Several times we have had to leave town and Ian will stay at our house overnight and take care of the house and dogs. Ian also gives our dogs medicine when needed. Ian is very trusting and loyal to his clients. If you hire Ian you will NOT be disappointed. Jori Jenae

A typical day

When in my neighborhood, I enjoy taking pups to the Pacific Electric Trail, which is only half a block from my house. The area is quiet and safe, and has a ton of greenery and places to explore. I also enjoy taking dogs walking in their own neighborhoods so they feel comfortable.
