Pet care experience
Hi, I’m Ian. I LOVE all animals, but especially dogs. I’ve looked after most varieties of dogs receiving five star reviews. I only take one dog at a time and I like to make them feel special while they’re in my care. (As I’m retired, I’ve got plenty of time on my hands.) I used to volunteer at the RSPCA centre in Mallydams Wood, Hastings, where I learnt about animal needs. I’ve owned both dogs and cats in my life, but my favourites were Sally (a Springer Spaniel) and Ozzie (a Bengal cat). I had Ozzie for 13 years. I loved that cat and still miss him to this day. I’m used to looking after dogs - friends used to ask me to look after their Labrador and Labradoodle and there was an RSPCA Sprocker Spaniel Puppy help-dog called Honey who used to stay with me. Her owner called me the ‘Dog Father’! Apart from my garden, there’s ‘Tunbridge Wells Common’, including Wellington Rocks where I can walk them. I’ll also send you a daily update with photo(s) if you like.

Ian was very patient with our anxious dog! Thank you 😊

Jasper was very happy with Ian right from the start. Ian is kind and calm and we can thoroughly recommend him - in fact, Jasper's next stay is already booked!

I have a private fenced garden and I live on Mount Ephraim in Tunbridge Wells, opposite Tunbridge Wells Common, so there’s plenty of space for your dog to let off steam.

Information Ian H. would like to know about your pet
I need to know beforehand if there’s any behavioural issues affecting your dog: does he/she get on with other dogs? Has he/she ever bitten anyone? Does he/she scratch or chew furniture? Also, are there any health, dietary or medication issues I should be aware of? When are feeding times? (food/ water) What’s his/her normal daily routine? If it’s complicated, we could always arrange a Meet & Greet to get to know each other.
A typical day
I normally get up fairly early. After a shower, I’ll greet your dog and let them in the garden to ‘do their business’. I’ll perhaps play a game with them before filling up their water bowl and then I’ll make my own breakfast. Later, I’ll take your dog for a walk around The Common and Wellington Rocks and then it’s back for lunch. There’s usually a longer walk to fit in during the afternoon. Evenings are a quiet time for plenty of cuddles before bedtime. I always take dogs out on a lead.

I’m currently retired, so I’ve got plenty of time to give your pet the attention they deserve. I can be there for them when they most need it.
