Big Fenced-In Yard!
Pet care experience
Authentic Dog Lover. I’ve been called a “dog whisperer”, but what I know to be true is simply that I am happiest around dogs. They know that I love them. ❤️ I consider their people my clients; the dogs are my friends. I grew up with 2 cockapoos in my family home in Burlington, Vermont. While studying undergrad psychology at Emory University in Atlanta, I started a successful part-time dogwalking business called “For Pet’s Sake”. Over a decade later, these days my full-time (a)vocation is writing: creative nonfiction, poetry, narrative journalism. 🖊️ Add a doggo or two to my day, and it’s quite a fulfilling life. 🐶 🐶 I’m flexible. I generally work from home. I like to break up my day: walk, get some fresh air, visit the dog park or the water. 🏃🏻 🐕 🏖️ I’m bookish of course too, and as such, totally comfortable curling up at home with a pooch who prefers to play couch potato ;) 🛋️ 🥔 🐶 🤓 ***I just moved from the downtown Arts District of Lake Worth Beach to a bigger house in a more residential area, around Sunset Ridge Park.*** I miss the hustle and bustle, but Scout and her friends are undoubtedly happier here. In addition to the fenced-in yard, there’s a big park 3 blocks north and another park 2 blocks south. C’est la vie (de chien)!

Took great care of my little guy!
Ian was awesome with my Cooper! Cooper is a senior dog who sleeps a lot; Ian sent videos of Cooper playing with other dogs, so I know he was having a good time. I would definitely recommend Ian, and will definitely use him again.
We had a great experience with Ian. Communication was quick and easy, and he was very responsive. Our two dogs enjoyed their daily visits to his house. There were multiple dogs there, and he managed to cater to our dogs’ particular needs. How gentle demeanor put both humans and dogs at ease!
Oscar loved Ian and his time with him. Ian could not have been more pleasant. This was my first time boarding Oscar with someone and I felt very secure seeing pictures of all the fun and cuddling! Happy to know Oscar has a great new friend and a safe place to visit. He also loved all his new doggie friends!

I have a plethora of balls, toys, stuffed animals, tug-a-war ropes, chew toys, stag horns, bully sticks, antlers, etc. I’m stocked with extra water bowls, dinner dishes, and a variety of healthy treats. (I can always make a run to the pet store if you happen to forget anything.) I typically allow dogs on the couch and the bed, though of course I can respect and uphold any boundaries that you prefer to enforce at home. I have multiple comfy dog beds, as well as small medium and large crates if that’s what your dog is accustomed to.

Information Ian H. would like to know about your pet
I like to know about any food allergies, dietary restrictions, as well as medical histories, present and past medications. Breed specific issues can be important; for example, Frenchies’ propensity to overheat. Please let me know about any history of misbehavior ***especially aggression***. Potty accidents come with the territory. I understand that dogs will be dogs. And we all have our neuroses. A student of Cesar Milan and canine psychology, I’m adept at handling behavioral issues, however I do like to be aware in advance. [By student I mean I’ve watched the show and read all the books.] I’m extra careful with every dog in my care. Still, give me a heads up if your dog is a “runner” or “bolter”. Thank you!
A typical day
Grateful to live in Florida, I frequently get to the beach for a walk at sunrise. If your dog likes people like I do, we enjoy taking walks downtown to see the sights, and be adored and complimented by tourists and townsfolk alike. One of my favorites activities is mixing it up and visiting all the local dog parks: Lake Woof Park just down the street, Dreher Dog Park and City Paws, the very quiet Mary Brandon Park in West Palm, the Lake Ida Dog Park in Delray, Pooch Pines Dog Park at Okeeheelee, and the Jupiter Dog Beach. We get around! If your kid is particularly restless or just energetic, I’m up to the challenge and happy to tire them out. In Fort Lauderdale, I had a reputation for running around in circles to rile up the crowd in the park. One of my clients said, “Ian I think you *are* a dog. You’re great for Wilson because you can match his energy.”
