The love of home away from home

Pet care experience

We are huge animal lovers who would love to care for your pup while you’re away. We will make sure they get the love and attention they need so they don’t feel lonely and the time passes quickly for them until they are back home. We enjoy dog friendly parks and establishments and taking walks on the Minneapolis trail system. We also love the comforts of our home, and our pets do too. We have a fenced-in yard for outdoor play and a basement area with rubber flooring for indoor play. (Our fencing is 6’ in the backyard, 4’ in the front yard, 4’ in the basement.) In addition, for your convenience, we have kennels and crates of various sizes if you prefer to leave your pup’s crate at home. Furthermore, we aim to respect your wishes and care for your dog in a manner that is tailored to its normal routine. Your doggie will get lots of pets, snuggles, and play time in our home. We also have experience providing a structured environment if that is your preference. Greg has experience in scent work and obedience training, and he does Rover full-time. We want to make sure you and your pup are comfortable with its stay. We owned a well-socialized Doberman Pinscher, Lincoln, who unfortunately passed away. Greg was his handler for search and rescue, and helped Lincoln earn puppy, Canine Good Citizen, and Area Search/Search and Rescue certifications. Through this experience, Greg and Lincoln built an unbreakable bond that has served Greg well on learning to communicate with dogs and train them effectively. Lincoln was an intelligent social butterfly with a heart of gold, we miss him greatly! Since we do not currently have our own dog, we would love to give your dog all the love in our hearts. Lastly, our cat is primarily independent and typically keeps to herself. She’s familiar with living with a dog and adapts well to guests. She also has access to her own private area of the home, if needed. Scheduling and Service Information: -Boarding: Open 7 days per week, based on availability. -Daycare: Open Monday-Friday, based on availability. -Meet-and-greets are scheduled Monday-Friday, based on availability. (To schedule a meet-and-greet, we prefer clients be seeking recurring daycare, or boarding for a minimum of 3 days. However, we also book stays without a meet-and-greet, if both sides are comfortable with it.) -Location: Minneapolis (near North Memorial Hospital) -Boarding: Up to 24 hours/day stays. Overnight stays. For example, the time of day that you drop off your pup is when you pick him/her up, if possible. A fee may be added for additional time. We also provide pick-up and drop-off service from/to your home for an additional fee. -Daycare: Up to 12 hours/day stays. Non-overnight stays. For example, you pick up your pup no later than 12 hours from the time of day that you dropped him/her off, if possible. Drop-offs begin at 6am, as available. A fee may be added for additional time. We also provide pick-up and drop-off service from/to your home for an additional fee. -Automatically Recurring Bookings: For new clients, we prefer to schedule a one-time booking to start in order to make a determination about future bookings. For existing clients, we typically book recurring dates on a month-to-month basis, based on availability. -Note: We schedule drop-off and pick-up appointment times instead of time windows. This allows for safer transition when dogs from different households are picked up and dropped off. We prefer pups to cross paths with one another in a controlled setting so that they bond better during their stay. We also try to be mindful of Q&A time with owners at drop-off and pick-up. -Note: For boarding, we prefer to schedule morning or early afternoon drop-offs/pick-ups for all dogs, but we accept evening drop-offs/pick-ups from returning boarders only, based on availability. (Note: A meet-and-greet will not be offered as a substitute.) This gives the dogs more time to settle into the environment without their owner present, and to get exercise prior to bedtime. Reducing visitors in the evening also helps pups rest better overnight. To best serve the pups, we prefer to schedule appointments between 6a - 4p.

We can’t say enough good things about Greg! He loves our dog and has truly created a special bond with her. She gets so much great socialization and Greg works with her on her level to understand her day to day needs. He’s also a joy to talk and work with!

Our dog, Watson, lives his best life at Hope and Greg’s! The joy we see in pictures while playing with other furry friends and the love and care he receives during his stays keep us coming back for more.

Information Hope & Greg I. would like to know about your pet

We would like to know if dogs are house broken, crate trained, rabies and distemper vaccinated, aggressive towards people or animals, possessive of food or toys, on medications, friendly with cats, treat/toy/praise motivated, sensitive to certain temperatures/weather conditions, and socialized to city life. We also would like to know a dog’s sleep and dietary preferences, its primary care and preferred urgent care vets, its favorite toys, its personality, and its on/off leash tendencies. In addition, we want to be aware of and sensitive to previously abused/rescued dogs. Furthermore, we would like to know what verbal commands are used in your household, whether the dog prefers to play alone or in a group, and if it attempts to chew furniture, shoes, clothing, etc. We are comfortable with all breeds, and we have experience with special-needs dogs. (When expected to administer oral medications or provide additional aid, such as a cone, protective clothing, a diaper, etc., a gratuity is greatly appreciated.) Thanks for visiting our profile! Please feel free to reach out to us with any questions! We look forward to hearing from you!

A typical day

We have a fenced-in yard for outdoor play, and a gated basement area for indoor play. In addition, we like to visit Victory Prairie, St. Anthony, Minnehaha, and Lake of the Isles dog parks, if owners permit us to transport their dogs. We also have easy access to Theodore Wirth and Victory Memorial parkways and the Greenway system for taking walks. Also, we play tug, fetch, and scent games.
