The love of home away from home

Pet care experience

We are huge animal lovers who would love to care for your pup while you’re away. We will make sure they get the love and attention they need so they don’t feel lonely and the time passes quickly for them until they are back home. We enjoy dog friendly parks and establishments and taking walks on the Minneapolis trail system. We also love the comforts of our home, and our pets do too. We have a fenced-in yard for outdoor play and a basement area with rubber flooring for indoor play. (Our fencing is 6’ in the backyard, 4’ in the front yard, 4’ in the basement.) In addition, for your convenience, we have kennels and crates of various sizes if you prefer to leave your pup’s crate at home. Furthermore, we aim to respect your wishes and care for your dog in a manner that is tailored to its normal routine. Your doggie will get lots of pets, snuggles, and play time in our home. We also have experience providing a structured environment if that is your preference. Greg has experience in scent work and obedience training, and he does Rover full-time. We want to make sure you and your pup are comfortable with its stay. Our previous dog, Lincoln, unfortunately passed away recently. He was a well-socialized and intelligent Doberman Pinscher that had a heart of gold. We miss him greatly! Greg was his handler for search and rescue (SAR). Lincoln earned AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) and Area Search/SAR certifications, as well as multiple AKC obedience diplomas. Through this experience, Greg and Lincoln built an unbreakable bond that has served Greg well on learning to communicate with dogs and train them effectively. Our current dog, Maple, is also a Doberman Pinscher. She is an intelligent, energetic, inquisitive, and social pup. Underneath her stoic appearance is a gentle spirit and a kind temperament. She has graduated multiple levels of AKC obedience training, and is currently pursuing her CGC certification. Her future role as a working dog is currently undetermined. Lastly, our cat is primarily independent and typically keeps to herself. She’s familiar with living with dogs and adapts well to guests. She usually resides in an area of the home that only she has access to when pups visit. Scheduling and Service Information: -Boarding: Open 7 days per week, based on availability. -Daycare: Open Monday-Friday, based on availability. -Meet-and-Greets are scheduled Monday-Friday, based on availability. (To schedule a meet-and-greet, we prefer clients to be seeking recurring daycare, or boarding for a minimum of 3 days. However, we do not require a meet-and-greet when both sides are comfortable with it.) -Location: Minneapolis, near North Memorial Hospital -Boarding: Up to 24 hours/day stays. Overnight stays. For example, the time of day that you drop off your pup is when you pick him/her up, if possible. A fee may be added for additional time. We also provide pick-up and drop-off service from/to your home for an additional fee, as available. -Daycare: Up to 12 hours/day stays. Non-overnight stays. For example, you pick up your pup no later than 12 hours from the time of day that you dropped him/her off, if possible. Drop-offs begin at 6am, as available. A fee may be added for additional time. We also provide pick-up and drop-off service from/to your home for an additional fee, as available. -Automatically Recurring Bookings: For new clients, we prefer to schedule a one-time booking to start in order to make a determination about future bookings. For existing clients, we typically book recurring dates on a month-to-month basis, based on availability. -Note: We schedule drop-off and pick-up appointment times instead of time windows. This ensures safer transition when dogs from different households are picked up and dropped off. We prefer pups to meet in a controlled setting, to increase the likelihood of a successful introduction and bond. We also attempt to be mindful of Q&A time with owners at drop-off and pick-up. -Note: For boarding, we prefer to schedule drop-off and pick-up times between 6a-5p, as available. This provides the dogs with more time to settle into the environment without their owner present, and to get exercise prior to bedtime. Reducing visitors in the evening also ensures that the pups rest better overnight.

We can’t say enough good things about Greg! He loves our dog and has truly created a special bond with her. She gets so much great socialization and Greg works with her on her level to understand her day to day needs. He’s also a joy to talk and work with!

Our dog, Watson, lives his best life at Hope and Greg’s! The joy we see in pictures while playing with other furry friends and the love and care he receives during his stays keep us coming back for more.

Information Hope & Greg I. would like to know about your pet

We would like to know if dogs are house broken, crate trained, rabies and distemper vaccinated, aggressive towards specific people or animals, possessive of food or toys, on medications, treat/toy/praise motivated, sensitive to certain temperatures/weather conditions, fearful of specific things, and socialized to city life. We also would like to know your dog’s sleep and dietary preferences, its primary and urgent care vets, its emergency contact, its favorite toys, its personality, and its on/off leash tendencies. In addition, we would like to know its background, to best handle, pet, and interact with it. Furthermore, we would like to know what verbal commands are used in your household, whether your dog prefers to play alone or in a group, and if it might chew on our furniture, shoes, clothing, and more. We are comfortable with all breeds, and we have experience with special-needs dogs. (Note: When we are expected to administer oral medications or provide additional care, such as a cone, protective clothing, a diaper, etc., a gratuity is greatly appreciated.) Thanks for visiting our profile! Please feel free to reach out to us with any questions! We look forward to hearing from you!

A typical day

We have a fenced-in yard for outdoor play, and a gated basement area with rubber flooring for indoor play. Your dog will typically remain on our property unless we go for walks. We have easy access to Theodore Wirth and Victory Memorial parkways and the Greenway system for taking walks. We also enjoy visiting the numerous dog parks in the metro area, but we will not transport your pup unless you permit us to do it. In addition, we have various toys for chew, fetch, tug, and scent games, and we ask owners to bring their dog’s favorite toy.
