Responsible, Flexible and Loving

Pet care experience

As a dog owner and huge lover of all dogs I will care for your dog as if they were my own. I've had dogs my whole life; they bring me so much joy and love. There is nothing better than coming home to a wet nose and wagging tail, especially if you have had a tough day. I’ve been an RN for 26 years, now retired. I am certified in emergency pet first aid as well as canine CPR ( the nurse in me won’t quit.. it’s like being in the mafia. The only way out is when you die🤣) So, after taking care of people for so long, I finally wanted a happy job. This has been my dream for at least 10 years , and I’m so happy that I now have a job I absolutely love! . My schedule is very flexible, and I’m home full time. I live in the building I grew up in and my senior parents live a floor below me. They love when I bring some friends to them for a little pet therapy. I have my own dog Finn who is my whole world. He a very silly Rhodesian ridgeback/ pit mix with a ton of personality and social energy. He loves other dogs and people, and we welcome all kinds of dogs to our home. Up until recently, I was fostering a senior female pit terrier named Bailey. When I first got her she was so overweight that I knew she wasn’t going to have a lot of time. But after much hard work on both our parts, she managed to lose 35 pounds! I Sadly, I recently had to help her transition over the Rainbow Bridge, but even then I made sure it was done here at home surrounded by my friends and family and was one of the most peaceful, beautiful moments I've had the privilege to be at. All of my dogs have always been rescue dogs —there are so many dogs that need good homes My first dog was a Shepherd/Newfoundland mix named Rocky, who was just about 120 pounds. My next dog was a Shepherd/Labrador mix named Kelsey, who I had for 17 wonderful years before she crossed the rainbow bridge. I love big mutts ( and I cannot lie!) All of the dogs I’ve had have always been medium to large breeds, so I’m well experienced at walking big dogs. My life doesn’t make sense without a dog. I’ve learned more from my dogs than anyone: always stay in the moment, eat when your hungry, take a nap every day, don't hold grudges, don’t worry about what other people think of you, make sure you have a little fun each day, and most important of all is that loyalty and unconditional love really do exist. I have a great family, we’re all very close. I’m also a huge movie/history/ useless trivia buff. I also love to read. I also love to sing and dance. I’ve been caught more than once walking the dogs in the park when I didn’t think anyone was looking. I always insist on meeting both you and your dog ahead of time (a meet and greet) and on neutral ground so there’s no territorial issues so I can get a better idea of what your pup is like. My dog Finn loves all dogs ( except un-neutered male dogs) Bailey can be a little obnoxious on the leash and may bark at your dog, but at home she doesn’t have a problem and continues to sleep away on the couch. If you feel like I’m someone who you can depend upon to take excellent care of your fur baby, please contact me. I can provide you with references upon request if you would like. I look forward to meeting you and your pup! I’m retired, so I’m available to be home full time. I have my own dog , Finn and I’m currently fostering a senior dog named Bailey. My schedule is flexible so I can provide continuous supervision. Dogs allowed on the couch and on the beds. I never let dogs off leash.

Helen Mary is great - she’s been communicative, professional and friendly. She clearly has a lot of experience doing this and I am confident ranger is in good hands with her!

Helen was very professional. My dog seemed to enjoy her one-night stay, and we will certainly board there again in the future.

Helen was very sweet with my dog, who was feeling shy with the other dogs in her care. She was also very flexible on timing.

Helen was absolutely wonderful!! I would highly recommend her for all your fur babies needs. She took great care of my little munchkins as if they were her own:) She kept me up dated with photos, videos and text messages.

A typical day

I live in a fourth-floor two-bedroom apartment in Park Slope which is a very dog friendly neighborhood. Weather permitting, I like to take the dogs for long walks and hikes in Prospect Park. We have quite a full toy box that anyone is welcome too. I also have multiple dog beds throughout my apartment. My parents live in the same apartment building I do, so I visit them frequently during the day. They also love dogs and always look forward to a visit from Finn and friends. So they’ll be around to give additional attention and love!
