Senior dog mom who loves old dogs
Pet care experience
I always said if I wasn’t a personal trainer, I would have been a dog trainer. There’s still time! I am a huge lover of dogs and am pretty good at training them. I love dogsitting as a side hobby! In 2017, I adopted a 10 year old Jack Russell senior dog named Shorty who passed away from lung cancer in 2022. I then adopted a 8 year old senior dog named Mia. Older dogs are my favorite because I do believe you can teach old dogs new tricks! I am very experienced in taking care of senior dogs and love them all!! I also volunteer at a senior dog rescue as well. I am currently only taking small dogs under 20 pounds who isn’t a big barker and have no separation anxiety. Your dog needs to be able to be left alone with another dog for at least 6 hours. This is because I take care of senior dogs who generally need a quiet calm space. We are very active with our walks though! In summer and fall, I like to go climbing outdoors where they get a lot of good sniffs! So if your dog enjoys car rides and sniffing outdoors, then it’s a good match! If you are in the Weymouth area, I can pick up and drop off for no extra cost!

Helen suggested various ways to make sure we could leave Leon with her without worry. This was our first time leaving him with her and Leon had some separation anxiety, so we were very careful. However, Helen understood and dealt with Leon. She gave us frequent updates on the situation, which gave us peace of mind. We will be away from home for about two weeks next month, but we have already booked Helen to leave him with her again. Helen is a great sitter that you can trust.
So nice and did lots of activities with my dog! He was happy!
Helen always treats our dog so well during her stays. Lots of activities to keep her busy and it's comforting to know that Emi is being so well taken care of while we are away. Would highly recommend!
So glad we were able to book Toro’s stay with Helen. She provided multiple updates throughout the day. She was very responsive and really cared about Toro. We highly recommend Helen!

Information Helen L. would like to know about your pet
How old is your dog? Good with other dogs? How long can they go between potty breaks? What kind of food/treats are allowed? Do they enjoy walks?
A typical day
Mia loves walks and gets 2-3 walks a day so your dog will too! I love stoddards neck in Hingham to let the dogs sniff and meet other dogs if your dog is okay with it.

Your senior dog is on doggie vacation when at my house! Activities include: -Walks at stoddards neck in Hingham (doggie island) -Rock climbing adventures around New England (I got comfy outdoor dog beds and they are on leash and hanging out. It is not strenuous and involves them walking in the woods). -Doggie play dates with my friends with dogs! Your dog gets potty breaks every 5-6 hours at my house. My home is a townhouse and is a senior dog sanction for dogs who like calm and piece and quiet. I can block off stairs for any seniors who may have trouble on stairs. I also have treads on my stairs so they don’t slip!
