I'm a dog fosterer too! Contact me for more info

Pet care experience

I have worked in animal welfare since 2005 and have vast knowledge in areas including the five welfare needs, plus general behaviour. This, alongside a love of dogs (and cats!), will hopefully provide any owner with reassurance that their pet will be safe and happy with me. I regularly foster dogs and usually have a dog in my home. I would need to discuss with you whether your dog would be happy to stay with the foster dog I have at the time :-) I like to think I'm one of those people who dogs enjoy being around :) I have experience with large breed dogs (my favourite) and am not shy when it comes to behavioural challenges i.e. dog reactive dogs etc. I foster dogs (only one at a time) and love the challenge of helping to get the dogs used to different environments and situations to enable them to have more success in being rehomed. My favourite breeds are large dogs and bull breed types :)

Helen did a fantastic job looking after my staffy and my crazy puppy for 10 days. They really bonded with her and it was nice to be away and know they were so well taken care of.

This was the third time Helen’s looked after Ivy now and she’s absolutely fantastic. Would 100% recommend to anyone.

Helen was outstanding. She was flexible, professional, calm and really understood my dogs. Both can be tricky boys- one is a border collie and the other is a mountain shepherd (a rescue). Two different personalities with different needs. She took everything in her stride and I was totally confident that my boys were in the best hands and actually relaxed on our trip. I would highly recommend Helen and will definitely use her services again.

Information Helen A. would like to know about your pet

As I live in a flat, I would be reluctant to take in a dog which is known to be not fully house-trained. Unfortunately I wouldn't be able to take noisy dogs (i.e. excessive barking)

A typical day

I love walking and have access to plenty of outdoor space. I don't have access to my own private garden, but I don't see this as a problem as it means your dog will get more walks! I also like to drive to places further out for a bit of change. I have a long-line to provide dogs that must stay on lead with a bit more exercise.
