Active, dependable, work from home

Pet care experience

I work from home, which gives me lots of flexibility and stability, and have cared for all sorts of breeds - from fox terriers to heelers to Irish setters to chihuahuas. I have a ~1.5-year-old mixed breed dog, Moses, who loves to play with other dogs. Most people would describe me as a quiet, calm person, and I think this helps me connect with dogs who feel nervous about being away from "their person." While you're away, I will send lots of photos and updates so that you'll be able to rest assured that your dog is having a good time. I am cognizant of how dogs interpret and misinterpret human cues, and always try to be attuned to a dog's body language so I can interact with them in a way that is respectful and that builds trust over time. As a dog owner, you want to be able to go to work or on vacation without worrying about your cherished furry companion, and I'm excited to help you make that happen.

Heidi was amazing! She sent photos and updates often, and it was clear how much attention and care she was giving my pup. I had specific rules about keeping him away from other dogs, and she was great at following that and still making the weekend fun for him. I will absolutely be using her again! :)

Heidi was an amazing caretaker of our puppy, Betty! We received regular updates on how she was settling in and it was so clear based on the photos that Betty was getting lots of love and individualized attention. We highly recommend Heidi!

Heidi took great care of our fur babies! She communicates quickly and sent us updates throughout our time away. Our dogs absolutely loved her.

My experience with Heidi was so great I don’t even know where to start! After my trusted dog sitter packed up and left the state days before my longest trip of the year (ten days) I was so stressed about finding someone reliable to watch Peabody. Pea is almost 16 years old and is in pretty bad health now. He needs to be closely watched and requires pills daily (they can be tricky to administer). He needs to wear diapers too sometimes so overall I was nervous that he would be too much for someone. Heidi treated him like a king and was such a perfect match for him. She sent frequent updates and photos which made my day every time! She was careful with his health and managed to get him to take all his pills. She listened to his care instructions and went above and beyond to make sure he was comfortable and happy. After dropping him off and getting to know Heidi and Tyler I knew Pea was in amazing hands. Even with one minor health scare I never once worried during my long trip. Heidi was flexible with my pickup time and I appreciated it so much! We couldn’t be happier. Pea is going to miss Heidi and her awesome home!

Information Heidi S. would like to know about your pet

I like to know about your dog's behavioral quirks and/or medical issues, and I always ask for vet contact information and emergency contacts. I will ask for some information on a typical "day in the life" of your dog and will follow that schedule as closely as possible. It is helpful if you can tell me about what causes your pup anxiety, what motivates him, and any special training techniques you're using. If your dog has any medical issues, I am happy to administer medication if you show me how.

A typical day

I live near two of my favorite walking spots - Hartley Park and Downer Park. Safety is my utmost concern and I always abide by local leash laws. I can adjust my walking style to suit your and your dog's habits and preferences - whether it's to allow all the sniffing his/her heart desires, or to keep things moving.
