Active and experienced dog-lovers.

Pet care experience

Josh and I are active and think a happy dog is a tired dog! Dogs need to have a chance to be active mentally and physically every day and engage with their environment for healthy stimulation. We put a lot of trust into individuals who care for our dogs when we’re away. Because of this, we take the same time and dedication to care for and love dogs who are in our care. Safety is our top priority and we make sure to avoid any situations that might cause them harm or stress. Beyond that, we love getting to know each dog and caring for them like they are one of ours! I showed and trained dogs in obedience and agility for 10 years. With that, I groomed long-haired breeds and learned a lot about dog health and behavior. I have broad knowledge of a variety of breeds but I also take the time to get to know and build trust with each dog. In college, I worked part-time washing dogs for a groomer. I clean teeth and ears, clip toenails, express anal glands, bathe all dogs, and groom any breed that is not traditionally clipped or shaved. We have always had herding dogs (Shelties, Collies, Border Collies, Australian Shepherds) and have mentored others in working with their dogs which has included a variety of breeds both rescue and purebred. We work in education and we enjoy being outside and spending time with our dogs. We are reliable and want to keep you up-to-date with how your dog is doing with pictures and texts!

Heidi has taken care of our guy a few times now and we can't say enough good things about her. She exercises him really well and also gives him all kinds of love and keeps us posted with pictured. We will keep asking Heidi back for sure!!! Thanks Heidi!!!

We were very pleased with our first meeting with Heidi, and Zoey's first stay with her. She got lots of exercise and Heidi was very conscientious to assure that Zoey and her own dogs got acquainted at their own pace. She thoroughly explained her plans for safety, sleeping, walking and anything else you might wonder about. We got lots of updates too. We will definitely call her first when we need boarding in the future.

Heidi was AMAZING with Bentley! She took him for long walks and went out of her way to play extra with him! Bentley is six months old and can be a handful but she was EXCELLENT with him! Highly recommend!

Information Heidi R. would like to know about your pet

I do not have any breed preferences. When I'm first meeting a dog, I like to know if they have any triggers that might cause them some stress (i.e. some dogs are afraid of men or are highly reactive around children or other dogs). I also like to know what they like and what is calming to them.

A typical day

I like to walk in areas where there is some shade and opportunities to sniff around and get some mental stimulation during the walk. Fargo/Moorhead is great because so many neighborhoods have great walking paths! If it's too cold or hot outside, we'll play inside with their favorite toy and I have some find brain games for those pups who like puzzles!
