I have a huge heart for pups!

Pet care experience

I've been dog-sitting since I could drive. My friends and family always comment on the special connection I have with them. I worked as a groomer for a while then continued dog-sitting for many years. Most recently, I worked as a dog-walker, puppy-nanny, and in-home boarder in Chicago. I spent my days walking dogs all over the city. I also trained puppies, worked on leash etiquette, worked with dogs who would be considered "trouble", and I boarded dogs in my home. I also do house-sitting and in-home visits. When your dog is in my home I do my best to make them feel at home. They are welcome on the couch and in my bed as long that is alright with you! I promise not to teach them any bad habits you don't want but I will also spoil them rotten if you'd like too. If you're wondering why I don't have a dog of my own, it's only because I travel and sometimes can't get home every few hours. I would never own a dog I couldn't devote a ton of time to. That's why I love helping take care of other people's pups. It allows me to take care of a dog when I have the time to. And who does love some puppy cuddles! It's such a rewarding job. Your dog will be in the best hands with me.

She was excellent. She was prompt, responsive and most importantly, the dogs loved her...instantly. The dogs were happy/content when we returned from our trip and the house was neat. Great experience.

We are so glad we found Heidi! She was absolutely wonderful caring for our dog and our place while we were away for two weeks. From the first meeting, she began bonding with our occasionally anxious dog who took to her very quickly. Heidi quickly demonstrated her experience and knowledge and we felt very confident heading away for our holiday. Our confidence was well-placed as we had regular reports during our trip and came home find to find our girl happy, relaxed and healthy. Such a great feeling to know your anxious dog has been happy and well-cared for! We can't thank Heidi or recommend her highly enough!

I suddenly needed a new home/pet sitter for my Rhodesian ridgeback, Reggie. He is a rescue and gets nervous with new people. I chose Heidi after seeing all the glowing reviews she’s received. She came to meet Reggie and he was sitting in her lap and nudging her hand to keep petting him in no time. I went away for the weeeknd knowing he was in great loving hands. Heidi was awesome, following his schedule and keeping in touch with me. I came home to a happy and well loved pup and a super clean house (she even washed the sheets and emptied the dishwasher). Heidi will be my number one go to for care of Reggie any tome we have to leave tiown without him. She’s awesome!

I love all breeds! And all pets! Well, if you have a pet spider I'm probably going to turn you down but I love all the slithery, fuzzy, or feathery critters too. As far as dogs go, I have plenty of experience with many, many breeds. I've worked with special needs dogs as well. I just ask you give me a heads up on any distinctive "quirks." If they have a trigger for a certain behavior that's always good to know. I'm quite familiar with the general idiosyncrasies in different breeds. All my years working with dogs have given me plenty of time to get to know them well. However, if you're dog tends to freak out with they see a cat or if they hear a siren, I would love a heads up!

A typical day

I live in a super dog-friendly neighborhood. Sidewalks everywhere and lots of grass. There are plenty of other dogs should your pup be more social. It is also very easy to avoid other pups if they prefer just human time. I have a fenced yard for playing catch and running around some as well. I'm also a big fan of car rides if they are! And I'll send lots of pictures! When I was a Puppy Nanny in Chicago we updated Instagram for every dog every day so I got pretty good at taking pictures of doggies. It took some time to master capturing constantly moving furballs but families loved the photo updates during the day and while they were away.
