Animalcare specialist & behaviorist

Pet care experience

At this time I only take clients in Hot Springs Village, AR. Dogs up to ---> 30 pounds. I do drop in visits for cats and other indoor animals like fish, birds, some reptiles. Before requesting a booking with me please contact me for a "Meet and Greet" at least 5-7 days beforehand. I don't take in new clients unless we have met each other and I have met your pets. This is to help you and I both feel comfortable working with each other. You feel safe leaving your pet with me, and we can build trust that you are comfortable with me. The few vaccines I require also need to be updated more than 2 weeks before staying with me. Unfortunately, there are scams going on with fake clients booking stays with Rover pet sitters. Please email me or call to schedule a Meet and Greet in advance and then you can book a stay with me via Rover anytime after that. Please read my profile so you know what to expect when booking a stay for your pet. I've been a pet health coach for 10 years, and trained dogs, cats & horses all of my adult life. My pets are my children, and I will treat your pets like family. I am an animal science grad and can give specialized care to your pet like medications, feeding, massage, even relieving anxiety. If you need help getting your pet to or from the vet or groomers I can help. I work at home as a certified holistic health coach for people and pets. If you would like to have your dog stay at my home for the day or overnight I request that they be brought to me, or in prior arrangements, I can pick up and drop them off to you. And, they can stay safe with me overnights while you're away. Regular clients can contact me in emergencies to come and pick up their pet. These are situations where you might go into a hospital or have to go out of town to help someone fast. I am focused on helping: **Older folks that are in need of transport of their pets to the groomer or veterinarian. I can pick up, wait there for them, and bring them home. **Professionals that go out of town a lot, or have emergency situations, and would like their pet to have one on one attention 24/7 daycare in my home for the week/weekend. **If you are away from home for long hours per day and you want your pet to have company instead of being alone. They can spend the days with me. Older pets or pets that get stressed out at a boarding facility are ideal pets I like to help. I have a stress-free environment where they can lay in their own bed and relax. They have someone to take care of them and play with them. Give them a bath, feed them their favorite foods, learn new tricks or training, and of course, go for walks on my quiet street. I have worked at pet boarding facilities and I know that not all dogs like being there. Some can get really scared, lose weight, and get diarrhea or vomit from the noise and stress. I also only take on 1-2 small to medium-sized dogs, on average, at a time and take extra care to make sure everyone gets along. I do have a couple of crates for dogs that they can lay in or get a time-out if needed.

Thank you so much for taking care of our Opal Faye. 🥰 I know she enjoyed her stay. The photo you sent of her and Wolfie showed that. 😂 Thanks again, Heidi.

Heidi was wonderful watching and taking care of my dog, Pepper! She was so thoughtful to text me with pictures and status of how he was doing through his 4 day stay! I would greatly recommend her!

Heidi makes being away from our little Opal much easier. She takes care of her needs and Opal appears to have a good time playing with Heidi’s kitty and her sweet little dog, Lily. Heidi and her husband are good folks!! Kindly, Martha

I don't have a fenced yard yet, but my subdivision has quiet (less traffic) streets to go on frequent walks. I provide positive reinforcement activities. As an animal care specialist, I can monitor your pet's health and administer medications. I only allow 2 pets in my home at a time so they get individual attention. You can feel safe that your pet is enjoying stress-free care 24/7. Unlike boarding facilities, I do not require every vaccine. I do, however, require the rabies vaccine (it's the law), and I do ask that you have your dog already vaccinated for Distemper, Parvo, and Bordetella. These vaccines need to be updated at least 2+ weeks prior to beginning your stay with me. You want to be assured that your pet is protected as well as other pets in my care. Please provide a copy of your fur-babies current vaccination during our meet and greet.

Information Heidi H. would like to know about your pet

Let me know if your dog has any special needs or behaviors that I can account for. Being honest about bad behaviors and habits is important so I can help your pet get over it. Supply me your dog's own food and medications. And bring favorite items for the time they are here overnight. Any allergies to foods or products? I will provide flea and tick inspections and subsequent baths. All pets staying with me must be indoor dogs and flea and tick free and any required baths because of infestation will be added to your bill. (remember there are other pets here too.) Please bring a list of needs you have for your pet. I like to keep the same schedule here as you do at home. I also require your veterinarian's contact information and request that you leave a credit card on file at your vet in case of emergencies if you are going out of town. I will not be able to pay an emergency vet bill for you. In rare cases, a pet can pass away due to illness, or old age. We never know when this could happen. This is why it is important for you to understand that I would do all that I can for your pet if it becomes ill, injured, or passes away. I treat your pet like family. I want your pet to have a wonderful time with me and I want to make sure you trust that I will do all I can to make your pet's stay a happy, safe and enjoyable one. Having worked in pet kennels in the past it was not common but very rare that we had a pet pass away during their stay. It is just as heartbreaking to me as it would be for you. But I hope that all pet owners understand this can happen. I do know dog first aid and do plan to get CPR certified in the future.

A typical day

I love to stimulate your dog physically and mentally. We'll play games and go for walks in my neighborhood. We can also explore the dog park and trails near my home. I offer quiet safe places for older less active dogs, and I do have plenty of napping places for everyone. Warning: Your dog may learn a new trick while in my care. I am quite the chef and have some great homemade recipes I make as treats.
