Pet care experience
I’m Heidi, mother of two, wife, animal lover, avid hiker and one who finds peace in the great outdoors. I have a BS in Zoology from Kent State University, met my husband in the Ozark Mountains, have owned Butternut Squash Dog Sitting since 2018 and have been on an adventure ever since. I take pride in caring for the beloved creatures that we get to share our homes with. I can proudly say that we have 1 dog and 3 cats who are an integral part of our daily lives. We find comfort in their love and happiness in their energy. My life has taken me on quite the adventure! I have the honor of previously working in animal emergency, at a large cat sanctuary, a couple of zoos, as well as, helping humans out in transplant and in the emergency room. I have a deep desire to help and nurture and create an environment that feels safe and fun. I have shared my space with animals my entire life and welcome your pup into our home with open arms. My current situation of working remotely, part-time, allows me to focus and cater to the exercise and care that my pup clients deserve and need. I provide dog sitting services in a safe, comfortable atmosphere, where the experience is personal, friendly and fun. Give your pup the deserved VIP experience!
Reviews
Heidi is amazing! We’re so thankful to have found a wonderful place for our dog to stay when we are away.
Heidi is the best. We have 2 dogs, one a rambunctious 18 mo old, the other a sweet, laid back 13 yr old. Heidi treated them each special and according to their needs. The kid got long hikes to burn off that youthful energy and the senior got lots of love and relaxation. We will definitely be using Heidi's services again.
Heidi was awesome to work with and my doggies and kitties were so happy. I have a house full of animals and she was so willing to help me out. My St Bernard, Blue stayed with Heidi and she took him hiking and he loved playing with her dog Butters. Using Rover works great for our animals.
Heidi was an amazing caregiver for our 17 year old Lhasa Apso - Buddy! He is a slow mover, has trouble seeing and trouble doing a lot of stairs. She cared for him like her own family member! She kept him close by at night so he wouldn't be scared in an unfamiliar home, watched him on stairs/steps, took him out as often as needed, she even cleaned some spots he has on his back! She also sent updates daily with pictures and/or videos of Buddy so we could see with our own eyes, he was enjoying his stay and felt comletely at home! He came back home happy and stress free! Her caring approach, knowledge of and caring for animals needs (even any health issues they may have) makes her our go to sitter for Buddy and any future pets we have! We highly recommend her!

Information Heidi H. would like to know about your pet
It's important for me to know what particulars your pup has, prior to their stay. A great way for me to be able to do that, is by picking your pup up for a 'meet and greet' by taking them on an appropriate styled adventure and seeing how they form a pack with my dog, Butters. Once the pack is formed, a fun-filled visit to my home afterwards helps further the introduction between the dogs. This 'meet and greet' is free of charge and really allows me to get to know your pup without extra distractions and energy, to see if it is a good fit, for all parties involved. * Please share any time(s) your pup has been: toy aggressive, food aggressive, human/child/cat aggressive, dog aggressive; if your pup marks territory; chews toys/socks/furniture, etc.* * The more I know about your little fur baby, the better care I can provide. *
A typical day
Over the years, I have noticed that every dog has their own special ingredients, that create their own special recipe. It is my job to observe your pup and find what catered visit they will require. Some of the pups require 5-7 mile, moderate to difficult hikes and others are content with a stroll through the neighborhood. Every dog will be showered with love, cuddles, positive reinforcement and the feeling of being 'home'.
