An active member of 4H since I was 8 years old I have regularly taken care of Horses, Goats, Chickens and Dogs. I've been professionally employed as a dog/home sitter since 2004 with rave reviews. Total pet wellness is very important to me as I take my commitments to animals seriously (with the intent to have a lot of fun and play as well). I regularly trim dog nails for friends and family and have been training dogs for the past 11 years. My dog is 11 years old, in excellent health and is frequently used to assist in training puppies (she's a great communicator). I have a clear and intuitive understanding of animals and animal behavior.

Heidi is the best dog caregiver we have ever had. We have a sweet, sensitive, rowdy pup and left him with her for two weeks while we got married out of the country. She took the time to understand his personality and what he needed to feel safe and secure, and also worked with him to build his confidence. Adding in the nightly bed cuddles and morning massages, she took better care of our dog than we do :). We especially appreciated Heidi's regular updates about their adventures- so fun! Please don't book her because we very much want her available for our next trip out of town.
Heidi took the time to meet with me and my dog, Rufus, where she listened to my concerns and gave great insight! She is super knowledgeable and understanding when it comes to the care of your pet. Plus she also gave some great tips on how to give his brain a challenge every once in awhile, or just places to go in the area to get some exercise with him.
My girls love Heidi, and they can be particular about who cares for them. She took the time to meet them beforehand to learn their preferences, and routine. She genuinely wanted to make my girls happy while they were in her care. She went above and beyond by playing games with them, and listening to their needs. She is extremely knowledgeable when it comes to dog behavior as well. If you love your pet and want them to have the best care that can be provided then I recommend Heidi <3
Heidi was GREAT! She communicated well and got our 3 dogs out everyday while we were out of town. It was a good feeling knowing the dogs were getting their exercise while we were away. Highly recommend her!

I own a condo in which dogs must be leashed and immediately picked up after. The first outdoor adventure starts at 5-6am and the last outdoor adventure ends between 9-11pm. We walk/hike 1-2 times per day and my dog, Nova, is always with me. When I care for pets in a clients home I adhere to the schedule they are accustomed too and incorporate more play and exercise as the dog is able. My goal is to have a dog that is happy to see their owner but would also be happy to continue living with me!

I have certain rules within my pack: I am the alpha I always greet other dogs before they can greet the pack I use touch as a reward and make it frequent and enticing I honor dogs boundaries and support each dog so that they can exist in a strong umbrella of safety I like to spend time speaking with the owners to get to know what their routines and expectations (of the dog) are I go above and beyond to create the best experience possible
A typical day
I have many "secret" places I go on walks, none of which I'm willing to reveal on a public forum. Just know I pick my places based on their beauty, solitude, access to wide spaces and water. I always walk with my dogs on leash within the municipality of Anchorage yet have some places that dogs can explore if they are allowed to do so.

9/25/2022 Update - My books are currently open to new clients for daily drop-ins, walks and day care. All additional services are open to existing clients only. 10/16/2022 Update - My books are currently closed to new clients but if you would like to get on my waiting list please send me a message, I look forward to working with you and your dogs! I work part-time, from home and create a stimulating daily environment for my dog and any dogs I am responsible for (I only take one client at a time). Regular daily activities include indoor and outdoor sniffari's, daily training, multiple daily play sessions, 1-2 walks per day, and 1-3 hikes per week. Pet care is my daily and weekly routine!
