Hi! My name is Heather. I am a 4th grade teacher for the Forest Park School District 91. I am available during the summer months, June through August, and holidays. I have an extensive amount of experience caring for a variety of pets. In my classroom, I have a bearded dragon, Sinaloan Milk Snake, and an array of fish. At home, my family includes a 4 year old male Tabby cat and a male betta fish. Unfortunately, our beloved Chinese Crested Powder Puff of 17 years passed away Thanksgiving of 2017. However, we look forward to adopting again in the coming years. I grew up caring for animals. I've never lived without at least two pets, mostly dogs and cats. However, I've had fish, Parakeets, gerbils, and hamsters as well. I believe in pet therapy as caring for and sharing ones livelihood with animals yields empathy, compassion, discipline, and a variety of other social-emotional skills that I intend to instill in both my son and my students. An understanding of the animals we care for can lend an awareness of environmental and political issues concerning their livelihood and that of others. I have no professional experience per se, just what I already do for the care of my own and that of friends, family, and neighbors. My son and I have made a great team in providing care for our animal friends. We can house-sit, board, or simply stop by to feed, walk, groom, cuddle, provide medication, and clean up after your loved one as you need. Please let us know if we could be of any assistance. Ciao!
