Second Family Pet Care

Pet care experience

A Reliable Companion for Your Best Friend. Your dog deserves to be with their family. When their family isn't available, call on their second family. My name is Heather, but everyone calls me Katt. Certified in pet first aid and CPR. Certified in dog behaviors/psychology. Basic puppy, adult dog, and senior dog training background (certification in progress). I've had dogs all my life, mostly medium to large dogs. I love all of their personalities and quirks. They are an extension of my family. My own dogs are my personal blankets and pillows, they get ear scratches and kisses and all the lovin' they can handle -- yours will, too! We'll spend time at the park if your dog is hip to that, or stroll around the neighborhood. Whatever your furbaby needs to enjoy their time with me! If you have other animals (cats, ferrets, lizards, snakes, etc.) please let me know and I'd be happy to discuss care options! I have two amazing dogs - a 70 pound pit bull and a 60 pound pit bull/boxer mix. They are the loves of my life! They will be staying at my home while I'm at yours. I also have a 10 year old cat and a new kitten; I have previous experience with ferrets, mice, rats, lizards, and snakes. I recently began working outside of the home. I work Sunday from 9a-5p and Mon-Thurs from 10:30a-7p. If needed, I can shift my schedule to be 10a-7p and take a longer lunch to be able to come home and let the dogs out mid day. I may be unavailable for short-notice pet sitting, as I live alone and need to make arrangements for a partner to come stay at my house, and they need advance notice to do so. If I have 2+ weeks notice I can generally be available. I will only book one client at a time for pet sitting. I may still complete check-ins or walks with other clients during that time, but my pet sitting client will take top priority. Your dog(s) will never be alone more than 1 hour unless we've discussed it prior to your booking.

Heather made herself available on short notice and was very patient and attentive to my elderly, temperamentally difficult cat. I look forward to reaching out to her again.

Heather took great care of our house and our high-maintenance pups while we were away for a few days. She made sure that they had steady check-ins during the day, snuggles and walks. The dogs loved having her and Max was mopey after she left. I think he liked making a new friend. We would definitely use Heather again!

Information Heather W. would like to know about your pet

I have a fondness for pit bulls, rottweilers, and labs. I love big dogs! Please confirm that your dog is up to date on shots. Let me know your preferred vet. Also anything else I should be aware of. If your dog has any aggressive issues (food aggression, toy aggression, people, etc.) - please let me know prior to our meet and greet so we can discuss. If there are specific tasks or rituals your dog has every day.

A typical day

I love Ross Dog Park in Vancouver! If your fur-babies enjoy going to the dog park, we'll definitely be making stops there to run and play (weather permitting). I'm happy to bathe your babies, too, as long as they're good bathers. Does your dog/puppy need training? No problem. I will work with them on basic obedience (sit, down, come, leave it, wait, stay) as part of the package. We will practice every day!
