Animal Enthusiast Vet Tech

Pet care experience

I am a veterinary technician with over 25 years of personal and professional experience! I love spending time with animals, and am always looking for new animal experiences! I have experience working with: Dogs Cats Rabbits Rodents Fish Reptiles Birds Because of my medical background, I can easily care for younger and older pets, as well as give medications and injections as needed. I pride myself on providing excellent animal care, and if I find myself without knowledge, I'll make sure to educate myself prior to the care of that animal. I feel that animals deserve the very best care that I can provide, and that it is my responsibility to provide that when they are entrusted to me.

As usual Heather was an awesome caretaker for our babies. The care and concern she shows for the girls is always appreciated. We even had a slight issue at our home that was unrelated and she took care of it.

Heather did a wonderful job taking care of my angels. She was on time, followed instructions and she came with good vibes. My dogs love her and she was very responsive whenever I I messaged her. I'm glad I found Heather and will be using her services in the future.

Greatly appreciate Heather and the way she takes care of our girls when needed. Annabella Dawn is super extra needy and Heather handles her so well. Thank you for all that you do!

Safety, trust & environment

In a client's home, I first make sure that the pet is doing well; do they seem alert and active? Are they acting within their normal personality? Have they eaten and had water? Is there waste in the house that needs to be picked up/cleaned? I will then set about whatever chores need to be done; feeding and giving the animals water, cleaning up their waste, and spending time with them, be it walking, playing, snuggling, or in the case of some very wary cats, making sure they are still in the house and appear well, but not pushing their boundaries. For all animals, routines are incredibly important, and I will ensure a punctual routine for them that fits within my own restrictions.

Information Heather W. would like to know about your pet

Ahead of time, I need to know if there are any medical concerns for the pet; does the dog have special needs? Take medication? Is it allergic to anything? Does the dog have any medical conditions such as seizures? Should I be looking out for any behavior in particular that you are trying to keep track of as apart of their medical regime? Are they dog aggressive, or do they love spending time with other dogs? Can I take them to the dog park, or should I stick to just taking them around the neighborhood? Do they have a favorite toy they like to play with? Is there a special treat they love? The more information I have about your fur baby, the better I can care for them while you are away.

A typical day

I often take my mom's dog Ziva for leash training exercises. She's a German Shepherd Dog, so she needs a lot of mental stimulation, and training is the exact amount of mental exercise she needs. She and I also go sprinting through the park, which wears her down. There is a little creek by the house I frequent, which is fun for me being out in nature, and I know Ziva particularly enjoys it as well, as there are many smells and things for her to explore.
