Pet care experience
I have been caring for pets for as long as I can remember. I started off volunteering at animal shelters when I was 13. I then went on to school and majored in Veterinary Technology with a minor in Animal Behavior. I worked as a veterinary assistant for a while, then as an assistant groomer for 2 years, and have been pet sitting full time for the past 3 years. Animals are my life! My all time favorites are seniors and other special needs pets. I am experienced with all kinds of medications, including pills, sub Q fluids, and insulin shots. I accept ALL pets and all breeds! I have experience with cats, dogs, guinea pigs, hamsters, rabbits, ferrets, mice, rats, bearded dragons, turtles, ball pythons, horses, goats, and even sat for a squirrel one time!
Reviews
Heather is a wonderful and compassionate person, and always takes amazing care of my fur babies. She spends time with them, plays with them, and medicated them, and even sends me photos every visit! I wouldn't trust anyone else with my babies.
Our rescue kitty is incredibly shy and often runs from new people. However, the first time Heather came to visit she ran right up to her. Our little girl has asthma and requires an inhaler twice a day. Since Heather started taking care of her we no longer worry on trips. Heather sends us sweet pictures and updates as well. I highly recommend Heather to any nervous pet parents!
Heather is wonderful! I’ve used her regularly for walks and dog sitting for over 3 years now and I know my dogs are in great hands. She treats them as if they are her own. She’ll send pictures and updates when she’s over, which I love. Her experience has made her a go-to resource for me when i have dog-related questions. She is extremely reliable and quick with her communication. I can not recommend her enough.
Heather has been my cat sitter since October when I got my kitten. She's is amazing with animals! My kitten, who is very shy around strangers, adored Heather the instant they met! Heather is super responsible and knowledgeable and really really cares about her clients and pets. She really goes above and beyond what I expect in an animal caretaker!

Safety, trust & environment
I have a small, fenced in yard, so I can only accept small dogs for boarding. My dog is old and gets along with most other animals.
Information Heather L. would like to know about your pet
I always have several questions I ask during our meet n greet: How is your dog on a leash? How do they react to- kids, other people, other dogs, small animals, cats, birds. Do they pull while walking? Do you use any special walking equipment? How energetic is the dog? Do they need to get their energy out while I'm with them? What medical issues do they have if any, and what treatment are they getting for them? What sort of training has your dog had? Do they have any aggression issues? (Food, toy, other dogs, etc) Are they afraid of anything? (Loud noises, thunderstorms, etc)
A typical day
I love to do enrichment activities with dogs. We play lots of sniffing games, and "find the treat" games. I also have lots of treat dispensing toys (sanitized between each household) which are great for working their brains. 1 hour of mental exercise = 2 hours of physical exercise.

Availability
Pet sitting is my full time job, so I am available 8am-10pm 7 days a week. My schedule is very flexible, as long as I have room for additional pets!
