Former vet tech & dog mom of 3!

Pet care experience

Hi there! Thanks for checking out my Rover profile. I do this as adjacent work to being a mental health clinician and donate a portion of my earnings to our local humane society. I was a holistic and emergency veterinary nurse for 7 years and worked in specialty medicine for 4 years as well. I have a lifelong passion for dog breeds and training in particular, as well as the herding and working groups. I enjoy taking lots of photos and providing thoughtful updates for my dog parents. I see each dog as an individual and give them the best kind of care given what I pick up from them and how I interact with them during our time together. I am comfortable administering medications as well as tending to special needs, behavioral, and medical issues. Please note: I do not offer boarding in my home at this time.

Heather is pretty much the only person I trust my dog with. She’s a kind, attentive and responsible caretaker that will give your pet the attention they need. Can’t recommend highly enough!

I live in east Jackson, near the Waterloo Recreation Area. For dog walks, I offer dog walks and hiking at Waterloo. When caring for pets in your home, I ask that clients provide written instructions about any dietary or environmental restrictions or concerns as well as behavioral and health considerations I should take into account when caring for your pet. I want him or her to be as comfortable as they can be when I check in on them/stay with them, so please share with me whatever information can help me best make them comfortable and happy.

Information Heather G. would like to know about your pet

- If your dog has any special behavioral, environmental, dietary, or medical needs. - If your dog has been known to "guard resources" (territorial behavior around food, treats, people, etc.) - Would you prefer we avoid the dog park or is a nearby dog park permissible for visits? - Does your dog have any sleep reactivity? - Is your dog good with older children?

A typical day

If it's appropriate, I enjoy taking pups to the dog park, hikes in the woods, and on neighborhood walks. I enjoy basic training and playing with toys, as well as making up dog games for the pups in my care.

Pet care is the sole focus on my time at home, so the pet care literally is the core of what I do (and everything else works around it!). I have 3-4 windows of time each day devoted to meeting the rotating care and exercise needs of the pets in my care. And I love doing it!
