Treat All Like My Own

Pet care experience

I began my first formal pet sitting job as a teen and have been pet sitting on and off ever since. For the past five years I have been volunteering with shelter animals, and have been working in a shelter setting for just over two years. I am very experienced with dogs and cats of all ages and with a range of behavioral and medical issues. I am comfortable medicating animals. I have fostered over 100 dogs and cats in my home and am very comfortable with dogs who refuse to go outside in the rain and snow, need management around chewing, cats who are easily overstimulated and just about any other behavior issues you can think of! I have fostered senior animals, puppies and kittens, animals with mobility issues, animals with housebreaking issues and even a semi-feral puppy. My animals are used to having other friends around, and my hound mix in particular is a great ambassador and friend for anyone who visits. I do have a separate room available for any guests if they need/want a break from everyone. This room is comfortable with a love seat and armchair, a radio, air conditioning, and a separate entrance and exit to access the yard. My cat is separate from the rest of the household, as she is not a fan of the dogs. Cat guests have a suite upstairs complete with plenty of toys, cat trees and beds. Cat guests will not interact with the dogs. I have crates available here for dogs who are crate trained or prefer to sleep in a crate. I also have a camera that I set up for when guests are here to check in when I am not home. During the work week I come check on everyone at lunch time and am always home immediately after work to tend to everyone. My home has a fenced in yard, and a wrap around porch. My dogs greatly enjoy laying out and enjoying the sun and patrolling the yard. The gates remain locked and nobody is ever left out unattended.

Great cat babysitter! My cat Turbo is extremely shy but he and Heather have become friends! I really appreciate her patience with my boys

Heather is a great dog sitter! She took wonderful care of our old Yorkie who has dementia. It’s obvious she loves dogs because her house is all about the pooches. Baby gates for safety and lots of dog beds, and a nice fenced in yard!

Heather was fantastic with the drop in visits to my cat, Henry. She kept me informed every day with photos and also wrote daily on Henry’s mood and activity’s during her visits. I loved when she mentioned hot weather coming up and should she close the window with the ac to make Henry more comfortable. I would definitely want Heather for future drop ins!!

Safety, trust & environment

My home is very pet friendly. My yard is fenced in and the gates are locked at all times. I am used to having foster animals in and out all the time, so there is no shortage of drinking stations, dogs beds, or toys. My home is set up with pet safety in mind at all times. Whether this means gates, crates, or bitter apple chewing spray, we are ready. There are also security cameras in my home to monitor things while I am away. Any questions about safety concerns please ask me. You should never be worrying about your pet while you are away.
