Lover of all dogs!!

Pet care experience

Ever since I was very small I have adored dogs of all kinds. My mom and I volunteered for CHAINED which was an organization that helped create shelter for dogs that are chained up outside in Detroit. I have always had a passion for all animals. Over the course of my life my family has owned 9 dogs. I have a lot of patience and absolutely love being around dogs of all breeds! I will treat your dog as my own and show them lots of love! I look forward to being able to watch, walk and dogsit for your fur baby, and have you feel at ease that your pet is in great hands. Please don't hesitate to ask any further questions. Thanks for considering me! -Hayley

Haley provided a supervised location for my dog while I was on vacation. I conducted a home visit prior to vacationing. During this visit is when I realized Haley’s home is an apartment and not a house as advertised. It was too late to secure alternative care for my dog. I provided detailed instructions and recommendations for engaging my dog. Babe is an older dog in the beginning stages of cataract and displays anxiety when left with strangers. Haley described herself as an experienced pet sitter with a history of animal fostering experience. I felt comfortable she was a confident caregiver. She promised pictures and promised to keep me abreast of Babe’s activities. I pre-made Babe’s food, chicken with yogurt and pumpkin, and advised Haley to keep the food frozen until 24 hours before use since chicken only lasts 3 days in the refrigerator. I left a water bottle for walks, many toys and balls, and towels to put underneath her bowl to protect the floor. Disappointing experience: 1. Two other roommates are living in the apartment I meet one and I was not aware the others were male which I instructed to be careful since my dog is a little afraid of males 2. Late for drop off: Haley texted 1hr before drop off asking me to change the schedule when I paid for the whole day. I had to rearrange my appointment to accommodate this delay. 3. Haley did not send any picture of my dog nor did she provide updates. I had to engage the sitter for updates on my dog 4. None of her toys were removed from the packaging and the water bottle was not used. No social interaction appeared to have occurred 5. The chicken was left unrefrigerated; now I have to toss 6 days of food because the food was spoiled/tainted. This is an expense I did not plan to incur. 6. Wet towels returned to me, not dried or secured in another bag, messy 7. Elevator was down the week I was pout of the country; I instructed Haley to use the elevator because my dog is older and stairs are not the best but better for her if carpeted. In fairness, Harley had no control over the elevate malfunction. 8. Told me my dog cried at the foot of the bed but didn’t try to get into the bed? It made me sad and I wondered why didn’t she offer to help her get into the bed? 9. I scheduled pick up around 10 am. Around 9am Haley texted me “Are you on your way? I have to be somewhere or you’ll have to get your dog later…okay” I picked a dog up quickly. I don’t understand I was not able to pick my dog up when I wanted since I paid for the day and I was told she worked from home. My dog was not intentionally harmed or mistreated but I clearly explained and documented dietary, health, and social needs which were not followed. I expected an professional, engaging experience, and regular updates concerning my pet’s status. I did not receive any updates while I was out of the country. I am disappointed. Babe did not get the hands-on interaction I expected and think she deserved. Since returning home, she’s a happy girl playing catch and tug-a-war. Perhaps Haley’s experience is limited to small dogs that do not have anxiety issues or special needs. Dogs with anxiety issues require more interaction to engage and develop a bond. Unfortunately, this was not Babe’s experience. The Rover ad was misleading. The caregiver does not live in a house, the number of roommates was not disclosed, and there is no backyard. By the time I visited Haley’s home, it was too late to schedule other arrangements. I recommend everyone conduct a home visit 30 days prior to confirming care arrangements. Once you commit to the dates you are locked into a contract. Haley is a nice person but did provide the service I expected and paid for.

Hayley went above and beyond when it came to communication and I think she was just the perfect fit for my rather finnky girl :-)

I was involved in animal advocacy and rescue very heavily for about 3 years. I have had dogs for Hayley's entire life however (as many as 4 of my own), and a foster or 2. She loves animals so much! She is my go to if I am going out of town and need a sitter. Sometimes she just takes a dog of mine home for a few days to a week. My dogs go absolutely nuts when she comes over. Hayley is very (very) athletic and loves to take the dogs on walks or jogs with her. She has a great heart with kids and animals.
