Accepting and loving every pet as if my own!
Pet care experience
I can quite honestly say I have never been without my own pets or family pets for my entire life and I would not have it any other way! I have experience with owning a range of dog sizes and breeds, most of which came to us as rescue dogs with behavioural issues, which I have worked through solely or as a family unit to give them the best life possible. I also have experience with cats and a whole range of small animals and reptiles (extra love to rats). I prefer to look after pets in their own homes as I find this is the least stressful for them and less disruptive to their usual routines which are so important to them. I have previously worked as a volunteer in a kennel/cattery and have experience with administering medication to animals, both my own and those being boarded at the kennels. I am currently on a waiting list for a pet CPR and first aid course which I feel will add an extra layer of security and confidence for any pets under my care both personally and professionally. I like to know of any medical concerns your dog may have in order to take this into consideration when accepting a booking as I want to make sure I can give the maximum amount of time and care to each pet. It is also good to know whether we will need to complete a few meet and greets before hand if your dog is nervous or shy so they can get used to me before they are left in my care.
A typical day
As mentioned previously I think it is very important to maintain a routine with pets but that doesn't mean you can't mix it up a little! I am always happy to take dogs comfortable with travelling to new places for walks - the Wrekin is a personal favourite for young, energetic dogs! I also enjoy taking dogs to a nearby, secured pen where they can run around and play off-leash to expend all that energy (cost of 45 minute play time to be discussed and covered by owner). I have a lot of go-to activities to play with dogs as when the weather is particularly bad or I am looking after dogs who don't enjoy the rain or heat it's important to still be able to expend and use energy, whether physical or mental, within the home.
