I grew up with cats in my family, but when I was 12 years old and earning some summer money mowing lawns, I came across a blonde Lab who looked absolutely famished but was very friendly. Guess what? She followed me home and we gave her some food and water and took her to the vet. She didn’t have a microchip and it was estimated she had been wandering around the streets for a couple of months. But this isn’t a sad story -- Sophie is that sweet dog who found me and she is still with us today! Sophie has shown us unconditional love over the years and that is how I came to fall in love with dogs. (I’m also happy to report my parents recently adopted a chocolate Lab, so Sophie has a best buddy now.) I fully understand that as a dog owner we are our pup’s entire world and they are ours. It’s because of this that I became a pet sitter, so that I can share my love for dogs when their owners are away or just need a little help now and then with their furry companion. Working with RoverGo allows me to share my love of dogs with a lot of clients and I have the pleasure of meeting new dogs all the time. I’ve cared for older dogs (Sophie is now 12) as well as pups (Beyla, our new addition, is a year old and my boyfriend’s pup is 2). I’m also a cat lover -- Oliver is a young tom cat who weighs in at 12 pounds (yes, he’s big!), but he loves dogs and other cats as much as I do. So if you’ve got more than one kind of furry friend, just know that I’m happy to help with your cats as well as dogs. Dogs love being active and going outside, so if I can help them do that I think that is a huge win. There’s a lake and park next to my apartment complex and I’m happy to take pups out on runs with me or if that’s too much for them, a leisurely stroll is also a great way to stretch our legs. I work close to my home so it’s easy for me to pop in on them during my lunch hour and our after work hours can be spent playing, taking another walk or just chilling out for the evening. I’m happy to allow pets on the furniture (unless the owner doesn’t approve) and I make sure we keep our routine, from eating schedules to exercise, as close as possible to what your pup is accustomed to. If your dog stays over for the weekend, I’m an avid hiker who loves exploring in the Snoqualmie Pass area or just about anywhere else in the mountains! If we’re not hiking we can also have a lazy weekend exploring some of the area’s parks. Above all, I want your pup to be happy and I think letting them stay in an apartment versus a kennel while you’re away and getting some exercise makes their quality of life so much better and for many dogs it’s also so much less stressful!
