Top Paw care for your Pooch

Pet care experience

I've taken care of my golden retriever, Maggie since she was a pup, and along with that I have also cared for and raised street dogs in my grandparents' neighborhood since I was a child. Taking that in mind, I am calm and patient with dogs that need time to open up and I can handle myself around aggressive dogs. My dog is currently a senior and has had skin and gastrointestinal issues since she was younger; I am prepared to clean up any accidents that happen and I can also prepare food if necessary. I am very patient with fussy dogs who dislike eating or require medication. I can also give baths and I'm confident in my ability to keep them calm during them. With more time, I will also be able to spot behavioral changes and signs of any illnesses or injuries for others' dogs as I do with mine.

Information Haya P. would like to know about your pet

A big priority would be medical and dietary needs, and also any special needs as well. I do not currently have experience with special needs dogs or with administering injections, but as with anything, I am willing to learn. I would also like to know their general behavior and habits, what they like and dislike, if they're comfortable around strangers, if they're comfortable with new noises, if I am allowed to give them treats, and which treats are allowed (if any), and if they're comfortable driving in a car. I would also like to know how energetic they might be and how long they like their walks.

A typical day

I like to let dogs explore the smells of things they might be curious about and turn it into games for them. I'd set up puzzles and play hide and seek or tug of war with them (unless stated otherwise). A fun game I always like to play with my dog is tag, though I know and understand some dogs will despise being chased--I'll keep that in mind if it is an issue with your dog(s). If I have to walk them, I often go to the Mcinnish Sports Complex and Park (which has the Elm Forest Preserve trail), but the Greenmoore Park is also a pleasant place to visit. I'm on the constant lookout for better and quieter parks so the dogs can be as stress-free as possible

Availability

I'm currently an online art student and work freelance on the side, so my schedule is fairly flexible. Mornings from 10-12 are not free as I walk Maggie during those hours, and on weekend evenings after 5 pm I have DND sessions. I am free all afternoon and evening on weekdays unless there are scheduled vet appointments for my dog.
