Though I have no dogs, I have enjoyed walking and sitting my sibling's and friend's many dogs for years. Rowdy or docile, I enjoy dogs, and I'm sure they enjoy me. I am very patient with the dogs I have walked and "watched," i.e. if the dog is a snuggler or just constantly wants to go on walks, I can accommodate. It is not difficult for me access the needs (food, walk, attention, potty-breaks) and wants of the dogs I have care for. I came to the realization that I cannot abide leaving a dog alone, thus I do not own a dog for that reason. It would break my heart to have to leave "my" dog for extended periods of time. And it breaks my heart every time I leave a dog that I have "watched." It's as if dogs are too addictive for me to leave and, thus, own.
