Befriending dogs is my superpower
Pet care experience
In college I took animal behavior & restraint courses, volunteered with a dog rescue, and conducted field research with desert rodents. I have lived with & cared for a variety of dogs, cats, rats, mice, gerbils, birds, fish, and frogs, and I know the importance of treating each animal with respect and patience. I recently helped a family of first-time dog owners with training and adjusting to their rescue mutt.
Reviews
So grateful she came at last minute notice.
Hannah was wonderful with Murphy. 5 stars. It’s my first time using Rover, and I am quite pleased.
Hannah is wonderful and reliable. So glad I can feel good about leaving pets when I know they will receive great care!
Hannah took great care of our little, senior pup. She sent photos everyday and was very reliable. I highly recommend her!

Safety, trust & environment
I value honesty and responsibility in myself and others. I know you want someone you can trust - both to care for your animals and be in your home. In your absence, I do my best to provide your pets with the enrichment they need, whether that's a long sniff-everything walk, playing chase/tug, standing watch so they feel safe to eat lunch, or scratching that hard-to-reach spot under their collar. I can help reinforce any training you're working on or even brush them if they're into that.
Information Hannah R. would like to know about your pet
I'll want to know what motivates your dog, any issues I may encounter, and training you're working on that I should reinforce. Do you reward with treats/toys/clicker? Any food-aggression or protective behavior? How reactive are they and to what (do they lunge at cars on walks, bark at people, cower from other dogs, etc.)? What commands and signals do you use in their training?
A typical day
Since each dog is different, I choose activities that suit the individuals I care for. My friend's dog is high-energy but reactive and anxious around cars/other animals/strangers, so I keep her walks short but spend a lot of time throwing tennis balls for her and playing tug-o-war at home. My brother's dog prefers a mix of long walks around the neighborhood, visits to the dog park to socialize, playing keep-away with his toys, and cuddling on the couch. I'll work with you to learn your dog's preferences and try to keep the routine going smoothly.

Availability
I work my other job part-time, 2-3 hours at a time and am typically available between 9AM & 1PM for walks/feeding. With notice, I can easily fit pet/house-sitting into my schedule most weeks and some weekends.
