Professional Caregivers & Groomers

Pet care experience

Hannah and Sage Quigley have been involved with animal welfare since 2016 when they began fostering for local rescues and shelters in the Kansas City area. They have served in various positions including canine caretaker and management within the shelter setting and Sage completed their grooming apprenticeship in the fall of 2020. These roles have provided extensive experience with handling dogs and cats with various behavioral and medical needs and allows us to care for pets with special needs with confidence. Quigley Animal Care is currently offering boarding, in-home pet sitting, dog walking, and full grooming services for dogs and cats. During our time fostering, we focused on those with behavioral issues including, but not limited to: fear aggression, under socialization, resource guarding, high arousal, and over stimulation. If you are wanting to help your dog get some additional socialization, this is a great place for them to be! We can provide detailed insight into how your pet interacts with various personality types and play styles while in our care. If your pet is working on a behavior plan with a trainer or you'd like us to provide some feedback regarding specific behaviors, we are happy to work that into your services. If you know a pet owner in need, maybe they lack appropriate resources for their pet or need some guidance, we want to help connect them with groups and services to help keep families together! Animal welfare is something we are passionate about. It is a priority to offer education and outreach assistance even though we've moved away from working in Animal Welfare. Thank you for considering Quigley Animal Care for your pet care needs!

We have an 8 foot privacy fenced yard with lots of room for your pet to run and play in. Playtime is monitored, but we do have a tie out for pets that require additional supervision in the yard. We have a separate room for boarding pets to use and spare kennels to use if both of us are out of the home. If your pet is not destructive while left alone, we allow them to have free range. If we are boarding more than one family, this may not be an option. On visits to your home, we ensure to leave it in the same condition (or better) than it was left. If your pet makes a mess, we will take care of it. On drop in visits, we will take them out for a potty break, go for a walk to get out some energy, refill food & water as needed, and spend time playing & cuddling. Walks will consist of 25-30 minutes walking through your neighborhood. Typically we get in 1-1.5 miles in that time, but some pets prefer a more leisurely walk. We give them time to potty, noting any abnormalities if they occur, and offer water to rehydrate after getting in their exercise for the day. If you have worked with a trainer and use specific tools + commands, we will ensure to reinforce what they’ve learned during our time with them.

Information Hannah Q. would like to know about your pet

We have worked with many behavioral and medical needs and are comfortable handling most situations. Please let us know beforehand if your pet has severe separation anxiety and/or is unable to kennel. We can typically handle dogs who cannot be crated, but it requires some additional steps and affects how we schedule so we like to know in advance.

A typical day

Your pet will go out for their first potty break around 6am before Hannah leaves for her morning work. Breakfast is served around 9am and after everyone is finished, there will be monitored playtime in our large backyard. Unless the group dynamic requires a break from play, your pets will be out together with our pack for most of the day. They will have plenty of time to play inside and have access to stuffed toys, kongs, bones. (If your pet resource guards these items, please let us know and we will remove them.) We usually take nap/kennel rest in the afternoon for an hour or two. In the evening, we typically feed between 7-8pm and do last rotations outside between 9-10pm.

We are a full-time operation with two owner-employees that both work part-time outside the home. Sage works part time in the early morning hours from approximately 5am-10am on weekdays. Hannah is a nanny and caregiver for family members and typically handles walks and drop in appointments for clients, but Sage will fill in when needed. The time outside the home varies, but consistently they are outside the home from 6:30-9am Monday-Thursday and 11-2pm all weekdays. Most of the time one of us is home outside of the hours mentioned. We may run some errands or plan an outing, but are not usually gone for longer than 4-6 hours. If we have plans that would keep us away longer than that, we let families know prior to booking so they can determine if that will work for their pet(s).
