When Hannah was in the second grade we made many trips to Petland to let the puppies out of their cages to play with them. While I am not an advocate of adopting puppies from pet stores we liked to give these puppies breaks from their cage times. One puppy in particular was there every week we came back. For three months she sat there, unadopted, in her cage. Hannah convinced us she needed a real home. Although we already had a 15 year old dog we decided to give her a chance. The puppy slept the entire ride home on Hannah's lap. For two years Hannah helped take care of our older, more mature dog and our spunky little puppy. During this same time we were also taking care of an elderly diabetic cat. Hannah helped feed them, give baths, walk them-as far as our older dog could go- and play with them. Those things have not changed for her. When Hannah comes home from college the pets still flock to her. Although we no longer have the older cat and dog, we still have the pet store puppy and a rescued feral cat she helped nurture when it was found freezing one very cold fall night. Hannah has a heart for pets, dogs and cats especially. She misses her pets back home so helping to take care of other people's pets would be beneficial for everyone. She has watched/walked small and large dogs from our neighborhood and has always taken care of her aunt's cats. Hannah will make an amazing dog walker/caregiver. It won't even seem like work to her. She has great time management skills and is a high achieving, responsible college student, majoring in nursing while playing division 1 basketball. Respectfully submitted by Kathy Harmeyer
