PERSONAL BACKGROUND: I am going on my fourth year of being an elementary school teacher. I live with my husband and our two dogs. My husband, Chris, was an electrical engineer but quit to follow his passion of woodworking. He works out of our garage (which is also the location of the washer and dryer, so you can imagine my excitement of having to move wood out of the way every time I need to do laundry!) so he is home full time! We will always update owners with pictures on a daily basis! We love taking pictures of dogs and we love receiving pictures of our dogs when we go on vacay! We do prefer a 3pm or later time for drop off and pick up if they occur on a weekday. OUR DOGGOS: Our puppers are named Cora and Tilly. Cora is a three year old Australian Shepherd. She is very intelligent but is a tad bit worrisome at first when meeting larger dogs. She will warm up to them after a short period of time and then they'll be best friends! Tilly is an almost three year old Lab/Spaniel mix who has never met a stranger! She loves all people and all dogs. Her favorite place is the dog park because there are so many new friends there! I would LOVE for your doggies to meet mine! We can do a meet and greet where ever you feel comfortable at! Park? Okay! My house? Sure! We're very flexible! HOUSING FOR DAYCARE OR BOARDING: We live in a one story house in Town n Country. Our backyard is fenced in and we have a pool that any pups are allowed to swim in if they feel comfortable! (Our dogs are not comfortable with pools so they don't venture in) Since Chris is home full time, your dogs will have constant supervision outside to make sure they are safe around the pool. Dogs are equals in our house so they are allowed on furniture and they can even sleep with us in bed if they want! We do have quite a large dog bed (that of course neither of our dogs use) if your dog prefers to sleep on their own bed. If your dog is being crated at night, we do have a large crate that we can provide for your puppup, however, I recommend bringing the crate that your dog is used to and comfortable with. WALKING AND DOG PARKS: If your dog is staying with us for doggy daycare, Chris will walk your dog before I come home from work. If your dog is staying with us for doggy boarding, I will walk your dog when I come home from work. Also, if you and your dog are comfortable with dog parks then Chris and I will gladly take them to their favorite dog park or if they don't have a preference we will take them to our favorite dog park! (West Dog Park on Occident Street - It's HUGE and has a side for small dogs and big dogs) We do ask that you please bring your own collar/harness and leash so your dog feels comfortable during the walks. FOOD: Please bring your dog's food when boarding or if they plan on eating during doggy daycare. We will adhere to all dietary restrictions! Please inform us if your dog has any allergy or if they do not receive any human food. (We may have a tendency to give our pups a banana, peanut butter, or some cheese every now and then!) Also if they receive any special treats. Please let us know if your dog shows any aggression while being fed. We will make sure to prepare a safe place for them to eat alone so they feel comfortable. MEDICATION: Like majority of pet owners, we have had to administer medication to our dogs before. We have admitted oral and topical medication. Tilly is also susceptible to ear infections so I learned from the vet how to clean out her ears using gauze and an anti-fungal solution the vet provided. If your dog has a specific way they receive their medication orally (with food/without food) please let us know. We normally give it to our dogs in the version of a treat but we are more than happy to administer it however you normally do at home! ANXIETY: Our Aussie, Cora, has a lot of anxiety - especially with thunderstorms or any other loud noise! I like to keep one of Chris' old shirts for her and I put lavender essential oil on that shirt to help her calm down. I also light lavender/vanilla candles or eucalyptus candles to help calm her as well. She has common hiding places: under the coffee table, under the end table, or her favorite place is in my bathtub with the curtain closed. If your dogs have any type of anxiety, whether it be social, loud noises, or separation, please let us know. If you have a specific way of handling this anxiety we will do the exact same for your doggy at our house! Or if you would like us to try our way with the essential oils then we can do that too!
