My main motivation for caring for dogs is that I miss my own. I have recently started college and therefore cannot see my dogs very often and sorely miss their comfort. I care for two dogs at home. I got the first one when I was in sixth grade after writing an essay to my parents about why the family should have a dog. We got him from a breeder as a puppy, and named him Choco. My mom and I got the other dog, Noa, from the shelter just over a year ago. His first two years of life had been tough on him so he had various health and attitude problems, especially towards men and other dogs. My mom and I have taken care of both of them together, therefore I am confident in caring for both puppies who cause the kind of trouble puppies do, and for older dogs who may have some attitude problems. At home I am the person in charge of grooming (cutting nails, showering, brushing coat, brushing teeth, cleaning ears) and I share the responsibility of walking, feeding, and training the dogs with my mom and am confident in providing these services for other dogs as well. In the past I have cared for my friends dog for a week while house sitting, as well as caring for dogs who have come to stay with my mother and I in my previous home.
