Pet care experience
Hey there, I'm Haley! I am a graduate from NC State University where I obtained my B.S. in Animal Science, and I currently work for an animal hospital/pet resort. I have 6+ cumulative years of experience working in a veterinary hospital and have done anything from leading doggie daycare sessions, veterinary assistance, caring for boarding/hospitalized animals, bathing/grooming services, and a lot of things in between. I am crazy about any and all animals -- especially dogs! I've had experience handling dogs in various settings including working in multiple veterinary clinics, volunteering with animal shelters/adoption events, pet sitting for friends and family, fostering dogs, as well as caring for my own dogs/pets. Animals are such an important part of my life, and I can't imagine life without them. I will be sure to treat your dog/pet as one of my own! I can be very flexible when it comes to your dogs' needs, so going for a walk or relaxing at home can be done depending on what activity level is best suited for your dog. I try my best to keep each dog that I'm able to care for on their normal routine, so just let me know what kind of schedule they are used to, and I will work to accommodate that! I have been a pet sitter intermittently for years, and while I now work full-time this is a great passion to me and I am looking to pet-sit whenever my schedule allows! I update my calendar to reflect my availability when I'm not at work or traveling, but evenings and most weekends are usually available. When I am looking after your dog, they will be sure to get plenty of supervision/playtime! Getting to meet and take care of animals is a joy to me, so if you're out of town for a few days or need someone to take your dog for a walk/adventure I would love to be of help! I am also available to watch other pets that might be in need of care including cats and other critters. Anything that suits your needs as a pet owner, I am here to help!

Haley is wonderful! She helped me care for my 2 cats for over 2 years when I was commuting to NYC for work every other week. She came twice a day and we worked it out so she did a quick visit before work and then stayed longer during the evening visit so the kitties got lots of face time. I never worried about them when I left and they were always calm and happy when I got home - relieving my anxiety about leaving them alone so much. I highly recommend Haley - she is very reliable and clearly loves animals! 😻😻

Our pups enjoyed another stay with Haley and she took great care of our house while we were gone. Haley kept us updated throughout the stay and the dogs got lots of love and snuggles. Would highly recommend Haley for any petting and house sitting needs!

When I am home or at someone else’s home, supervision is key! I make sure pets are secure when I am away and supervise diligently when we are outside. I ensure there is nothing potentially dangerous for the pets to get into, and always check with owners for any quirks or health habits I should be aware of when taking care of their pets. I always make sure pets are secured away if I need to step out of the house such as with crating or leaving in a designated room. I do not have guests join me on drop ins or housesittings, my own pets included, unless priorly discussed and approved. This year I welcome a dachshund puppy into my family, so for transparency bookings longer than a few days are better accommodated if she can tag along due to our schedules, but of course I understand exceptions may need to be made which is why I always discuss expectations beforehand to ensure we’d be a good match! She is around dogs daily with me at work, fully vaccinated, and after a meet and greet loves to join me on visits!

I love all dogs small and large and enjoy getting to interact with many different breeds. The only thing I would need to know is your dogs' temperament with people and other animals and what kind of energy needs they might need.
A typical day
I live right around the corner from Carolina Pines Dog Park and am willing to take your dog there or anywhere that's suited best for his/her needs. I love playing fetch, tug-a-war, or any other type of engaging activity your dog might enjoy with toys (and perhaps a few treats). If your dog is older or more into less strenuous activity, I will be able to supervise and help your dog relax! I love taking more social dogs out and about with me to places such as Petsmart, dog-friendly restaurants, and a nearby lake/greenway.

Availability
I currently work full-time at a veterinary hospital in the northeast Raleigh area. Days I work I may be gone anywhere from 5-9 hours. I am able to accommodate checking in on pets in the middle of the day during my lunch break if location is close enough to my workplace. My work schedule can vary, but I am usually more open on weekends and after 5:00pm during the week. I am happy to accommodate and work around my work schedule to fit the needs of the pets under my care, just keep in mind I may not be able to be there for dogs/pets that need around the clock supervision!
