Happy Trails & Tails - Acre of Love

Pet care experience

At the age of 1 I notably adored animals...No, I don’t remember it ;), but it is something my parents and friends have identified me with my whole life. As a previous shelter volunteer, I swooned over pets in need of homes and came to adopt my tom-cat Milo, my mini-feline Phoebe, and my puppy Scout. While one may claim we have a full house, my passion for animals and their care has brought me to Rover as a sitter or a potty-break sitter. I do work full-time during the week, but tend to have free weekends to play, walk and spoil furry friends. If cuddles, love and play are something you and your dog craves, I am your gal and look forward to meeting you both when the time is right. For everyone’s peace of mind, I would prefer to do a meet and greet ahead of time. If we are a suitable fit, I look forward to sharing many updates and photos with pet-parents to ensure tails are wagging and everyone is safe and sound. While I do work full-time during the workweek as the Director of Marketing at Explore La Crosse, I do take lunch breaks to let out my pooch and typically have open weekends to spoil fur babies and play. Every weekday I rise at 6:00 am. We would head outside for a potty break at that time with my resident dog, Scout. After I get ready for work, we would head out for the following potty break around 7:00 am before I head out. I return home from 11:45 - 12:45 pm every day for the lunch hour at which time we would enjoy a potty break and short walk - time willing. I return home from work at around 5:15 pm and we can begin our evenings together - which can include road walks, trail hikes, playtime with the resident dog and or myself, or just cuddles. As I would want to meet the dogs ahead of time, these would be topics to discuss and confirm with the owners to ensure we only participate in activities suitable for each pet. On the weekends, however, there is more time for adventuring the La Crosse Region's trails and playing at home. These are the days I would be able to offer the most custom care pet dog. In terms of time spent... On weekdays I can guarantee mornings, lunch and evenings with the pet. On the weekends that I list availability, I would commit to at least 70% of the daytime to pet care - whether that includes adventure, playing, or cuddling. As I want to ensure pet and parent satisfaction, I would not list availability on a day that I cannot provide adequate time to each animal - including my resident pets. My husband works on the road from Monday - Thursday. However, he looks forward to assisting in pet-sitting from Thursday evenings through Monday mornings. For those interested in dog sitting, we have a two-story, large home on an acre of green grass, tucked away in the bluffs of La Crescent, MN. A 15-minute drive from La Crosse, our home lends a convenient and safe spot for animals to explore outside. We do not have a fenced yard, but if your fur-baby prefers the outdoors, we do have an approximate 10-ft x 5 ft. chain-link and concrete kennel in the backyard along the grove with a dog house. Scout, our female, Heinz 57 mixed breed, is extremely dog-friendly and appropriately playful. Our cats are also dog-friendly and if they are not comfortable, will tuck themselves away for cat naps and find some peace and quiet on their own. The two story home also lends a spacious basement for seclusion if necessary. We also have a crate designed for Large dogs - so it is very spacious. As Scout free-roams while home alone, the kennel is free for use by crate-trained dogs as necessary.

When I need a sitter for my fur babies, Haleigh is the first person I think of! She is responsible and will give them all of the cuddles and play time they want! Haleigh will love your pup as she loves her own and I have no doubt that she will make sure they are well cared for and safe and sound until you return home.

Haleigh is my sweet, kind, considerate, and loving neighbor who absolutely LOVES animals!! She has trained her puppy so well and is like a second mom to my puppy! I 100% trusted her when we were gone for a week to let our dog out for bathroom breaks and play dates! He was loved but also still held accountable for his training/discipline! If you are looking for someone you can trust your dog with, Haleigh is your girl! She will exceed your expectations!!

Haleigh is the definition of an animal lover! She has 2 kitties and a pup of her own. Yet, she always manages to treat every animal she sees just as if they are one of her own. Personally speaking, I only trust very particular people with my own pets - and Haleigh would “paws” down be one of them!

Information Haleigh & James G. would like to know about your pet

Before we confirm our arrangements, I would love to know the following to make sure we are compatible and comfortable with the upcoming stay: - potty trained/crate trained - sleeping location preferences - activity levels - dog and cat friendly - special dietary needs - leash requirements (if front yard play is appropriate or not) - amount of check-in’s preferred with pet parents - as we have resident cats, breed preferences don’t really exist as breeds don’t ALWAYS define pet-personality, but I do need the visiting pet to not pursue my cats in a hunting or aggressive manner

A typical day

As we live in the bluffs, we have a beautiful walk from our home through a peaceful and remote neighborhood that is about a mile long. This walk is almost a daily excursion, and weather permitting, would be a great jaunt to enjoy with your pet. In addition, we have a railing-fence deck with no stairs that’s is larger than two living rooms for animals to roam during supervised free time as well as an acre of land to play fetch if able to be off the leash. We also have friendly neighbors with dogs if additional play dates are a favorite for your pup. In general, our family is active outdoors and would love your pet to accompany us on excursions. However, if your fur-baby is more of a homebody, cuddles and relaxing at home are always an option as well.
