Dogs are people too!

Pet care experience

I feel that I have a gift when it comes to dogs. I’ve always been able to connect with them deeply and understand them well. Earning a dog’s trust is always worth the effort; I love their big, messy greetings and kind, affectionate warmth. In my experience, every interaction with a dog ups our mutual happiness quotient. For the first time in my life, I don’t have a dog of my own right now. Pet-sitting fills the gap in my life and gives me an opportunity to help owners at the same time. What’s not to love? I can think of nothing better than seeing that a dog is happy, comfortable, and safe while their owner is away. Regular communication will help you know how much fun we’re having, and gives you a chance to relax, too. I’ll send updates with stories, photos, and even videos if you’d like. You’ll get a clear sense of the positive atmosphere that I create, and the genuine, loving attention that your pet will receive. I work as an illustrator, and enjoy all kinds of creative pursuits. I love the beach, going out on the water, and hiking in the nearby mountains. Anytime I’m able to bring a dog along on my adventures, I’ll do so! I live close to a bike path, and my sunny one-bedroom is just a few blocks away from the beach and Palisades Park in Santa Monica. There’s also a balcony for fresh air and sunshine at home. I feel lucky to live here! The entire neighborhood is very dog-friendly, and I can be on a mountain trail in under 15 minutes. We’ll while away many hours meandering along the beachfront, or playing fetch in the park. People and dogs enjoy my company, and I hope you and your pet will be no exception! I’m looking forward to meeting you and your furry friend. When requesting a service, 24 hours notice before the service date[s] is best.

This is the second time I leave my doggy with Greg. He does a great job caring for her and provides me regular updates. I know she is well taken care of when she is with him.

Thank goodness for Greg!!! We had to leave our 'puppy' for 2 weeks, which is the longest we've left her in years... I was extremely anxious to leave her and Greg immediately calmed all my nerves and continued to make us feel so confident that Apollo was taken care of, safe, comfy and loved. From the moment we dropped her off, the photos and videos started coming in which gave me the most reassurance, and we continued to receive constant updates throughout the entire time - down to the last 15 minutes when we were on our way to pick her up. Apollo and Greg formed a clear bond while we were away and we're so excited to see him again in the future knowing that Apollo will be in the best hands and happy to hang with him again in the lovely environment he shared with her. We cannot thank you enough, Greg!

Greg was the best taking care of our pup Maya. I can’t imagine a better experience. We had never left her with anyone before and so it was a big thing when we did the meet and greet and Greg left us feeling so comfortable and knowing he’d take great care of her. And he did! Greg sent pictures daily and updates on how Maya was doing. He was super flexible with timing and quick in communication. And he was patient in the meet and greet as I just wanted to stick around a while to feel sure Maya was comfortable. Greg clearly is a dog person and he bonded with Maya and when we came to pick her up she seemed as settled and happy at his place as she does at ours. All a great experience and we will be coming back to Greg for sure for the next time!

Greg was awesome with my doggy! This is the longest I’ve ever left my dog and I was a little nervous about it however Greg was great along the way with updates and pictures. Ruby loved him and I will definitely leave Ruby with him again!

Information Greg T. would like to know about your pet

Just let me know about your concerns; I don’t want to overwhelm you with questions, but will certainly ask if anything may have been overlooked. I have experience with many different kinds of dogs, and I’m happy to work with any and all! I'm most experienced with Golden and Labrador Retrievers of all ages. I also have experience being a caregiver for very ill dogs, dogs who have recently had surgery, and dogs with disabilities. I've even had guide-dogs-in-training stay with me (the purpose was to acclimate them to various types of living situations and environments). I’m quite observant and attentive to a dog’s needs, and will get in touch if anything seems out of the ordinary. I do NOT take on dogs who do not get along with other dogs (in the home or outdoors around other dogs passing by). Please do specify if your dog does not get along with other dogs.

A typical day

Aside from an occasional short errand, I'd be able to spend all day with my new furry friend. We'd likely start the day with a nice walk in the morning, and then have breakfast together. After some playtime and another walk, I’ll settle in to work while the pup hangs out nearby with a favorite toy. Later on, we might spend some time at the park, enjoy a longer walk, and follow it up with dinner. There will be plenty of potty breaks, playtime, adventures, and we’ll end the day snuggling each other to sleep! Everything depends on the individual dog’s needs, of course, so this is just one potential trajectory.

I work from home and generally plan to always be with your dog during stays. If your dog is crate trained and doesn't do well for a short period alone, bringing the crate is always a good idea.
