I’ll take your dog to the park!

Pet care experience

**Follow my new Instagram account (@Mulders_House) for photos and videos of Mulder’s adventures around Delaware with his friends from Rover!** *Get discounts for referrals. If someone you referred to me books a stay or walk, I’ll give you $20 off your next stay* Pets I care for: dogs, cats, small animals, birds, exotics From puppies to senior dogs or cats, I'll love and care for your pet as if they were my own. My dog, Mulder, and I LOVE the dog park and walks in the woods. If your dog is high energy, Mulder will tire him/her out so you can focus on relaxing with your buddy. I only take one dog at a time (or one family if you have two dogs) for boarding, so your dog will not be exposed to any dogs except Mulder unless you give permission for your dog to visit the dog park. I have had my account set to repeat clients only for the past 2 years, but am now looking to add a couple new clients. Read on for more information about my experience and what to expect. Experience: I had a wide range of animal care experience. I've had dogs and cats (and many other types of pets) all my life, and worked at horse farms all through high school and college (and still have my own horse). Training horses has taught me to be gentle, patient and consistent. Before I moved to Delaware I was an intern at the Rochester, NY zoo where I worked with primarily with elephants, lions, and baboons. I have also interned with a wildlife rehabilitation veterinarian through the SPCA providing care to injured and orphaned wildlife. My dad is a falconer, so I grew up handling and training birds of prey and hunting dogs. I'm experienced taking care of dogs and cats, horses and other livestock, reptiles, birds, and small pets. I'm comfortable administering medications (including injections) and caring for injured or elderly animals. One of my cats is diabetic and receives insulin injections twice a day. I am a grad student at the University of Delaware where I study entomology, and I have a flexible schedule and work from home many days of the week. My animals and home: My dog, Mulder, is my life, and I spend time every day to exercise him and take him on adventures to keep him mentally stimulated. I enjoy playing with dogs at the park as much as he does. Mulder is a six year old hound mix who loves to play and is very gentle (especially with puppies!). I also care for two horses who are kept near Fair Hill (not at my house). My home is a townhouse with unfenced yard, so exercise will be walking on leash and/or trips to the dogpark (we usually go to Iron Hill). I do have two cats, but can baby gate the stairs and keep dogs downstairs if they have a tendency to chase cats. We also have a tortoise and a tree frog, but your pet will not interact with or be exposed to them. The only people in the house are my husband and myself.

Grace was an exceptional caregiver for our pups. She was very flexible and accommodating when we reached out and told her we had an addition to our family. She took great care of our little pack and they were happy and healthy when we got home. She provided pictures and daily updates which was so appreciated. Thank you Grace! ❤️ Lily, Binx, Abigail and Jax

Excellent sitter! Very accommodating with my schedule. Sent videos and pictures everyday. Basically had to drag my dog away because he wanted to stay. Definitely would recommend.

Nothing but good. Grace was very helpful as we needed a sitter last minute. I feel she took excellent care of our dog and provided lots of exercise for him. I would guess he enjoyed his stay.

I do this because I love spending time with animals. I will give your pet constant love and attention. When we’re not at the park, we’re playing or snuggling on the couch. I only take one dog at a time (sometimes two from the same family), so unless you give permission for your dog to visit the dog park they will not be exposed to any dogs other than my own, who is up to date on his vaccinations, heartworm, and flea and tick preventative.

Information Grace S. would like to know about your pet

I am open to any and all dog breeds! Mulder gets along great with dogs big and small. He is very playful with energetic dogs but respects the energy and space of older or timid dogs. If your dog will be staying in my home, they must be friendly and non-aggressive towards other dogs. I will request a meet and greet prior to your dog's first stay to make sure our dogs are comfortable with each other. All dogs must be up to date on their rabies vaccine, and vet and emergency contacts must be provided. My dog is vaccinated for Bordetella (kennel cough) as a precaution because we go to the dog park and board dogs. If you board your dog or go to dog parks regularly, I recommend adding it to your current vaccine regiment as well. Please let me know if your dog has any allergies, anxieties, dietary restrictions, or triggers I should be aware of. Where is your dog on house breaking? Do they typically sleep in a crate, dog bed, or in bed with you? Also please let me know if you are not comfortable with me bathing your pet if they become dirty at the park. There is no extra fee for bathing during boarding or house sitting, and I use shampoos and conditioners for sensitive skin.

A typical day

For boarding, I like to make your dog’s stay an exercise filled playcation. I provide a lot of daily exercise for healthy, young dogs. For older dogs I will keep the exercise within their individual limits. Mulder and I love to go to the dog park. We usuallly go to Iron Hill dog park where there tends to be small groups and I know the regulars and who to avoid. When we're not at the bark park we go for walks in Iron Hill, Fair Hill, White Clay Creek, and Glasgow Park. I keep dogs on leash unless they are in a fenced area or designated off leash dog parks. I won't take your dog to the dog park without your permission, but if you are comfortable with dog park trips I prefer to do a meet and greet at the dog park for first time visitors to see how your dog interacts with Mulder and other dogs. I do have a horse in fair hill and sometimes bring dogs there with me. Horses are dangerous, so if dogs come out to Fair Hill with me I have my husband walk them on leash in the park while I do my barn chores. When we aren’t at the park, dogs get play time indoors with Mulder, frequent potty trips in the backyard, and lots of snuggle time. I’m also happy to reinforce any training you have been doing during your dog’s stay. I send pictures and updates at least once a day, but usually several times a day during boarding and day care.

I’m a grad student and can work from home most of the time. My husband is in the same boat, so my dog is rarely alone more than a few hours. We don’t leave clients’ dogs alone in our home, one of us will always be present. Boarding: I am available any day for boarding. I do go in to work to teach Monday and Wednesday afternoons, but my husband will be home at those times to supervise dogs. Dog walking: I only take about two regular dog walking clients at a time. Right now I have room for one more. I can often accept last minute bookings depending on my schedule that week. Doggie day care: I am currently only accepting day care Friday-Sunday. I may be able to accommodate other days if you reach out. I only accept one dog/family each day House sitting: Because I don’t like to be away from my husband and pets for too long, I typically only accept House Sitting requests of 3 nights or less. If your animal(s) don’t need 24/7 supervision I will consider longer stays. Drop in visits: I am available every day for drop in visits.
