Small Dogs Welcome!

Pet care experience

Hello, we are Grace & Luke! Update: As of March 2024 we are only accepting well-behaved dogs under 30 lbs. due to Grace entering her second trimester of pregnancy! We have had the privilege of caring for many different pup pals since September 2021. In that time we have learned so much about how to create an incredibly safe, fun, and comforting environment for all who walk through our door. With our own furbaby being a rescue himself, we fully understand how important it is for dogs in a brand new space to take their time meeting new friends and building trust with us as their caregivers. Our house has an open floor plan and we have separated all the rooms in our home with sturdy, tall dog gates so dogs can meet safely and get used to each other without any risk. We take our time getting to know your dog and what makes them so wonderfully unique down to their favorite treats and what type of music they enjoy best! On a typical day, we have a minimum of 2 dogs here and a maximum of 9 between weekly daycare and boarding. With our dog gates, we are able to have large sections of the house reserved to separate dogs into groups where their personality matches the best so they are always comfortable and not overwhelmed. We pride ourselves on our dedication to getting even the shyest pups out of their shells and introducing them to the wonderful world of having lots of friends! Luke and I both grew up in animal-loving homes and have cared for dogs, sheep, bunnies, and cats all throughout our lives. We are truly passionate about caring for animals and returning the unconditional love they give to all of us. While on Rover we have cared for puppies as young as 2 months old and have worked with many rescues who need some extra TLC and confidence building. We have found that meet-and-greets are wonderful for some dogs, but others may need a little more time to get fully comfortable with being in a new space. We encourage new faces to come over for a daycare day or two before boarding so both you and your dog can feel as comfortable as possible for their upcoming stay! About us: Luke is a hydrologist and works from home in his office upstairs. Often times he will have a daycare dog in his lap to introduce to his coworkers on Zoom meetings! I enjoy providing care through Rover full-time and with both of us home during the day, your dog will be given constant care and special attention. Whether your pal comes over for a daycare day or enjoys an extended dogcation while boarding, we will showcase their adventures with your permission in our private Facebook group: By the Grace of Dog. Please feel free to join the group and check out all the new friends for your pup!

Rupert had a great time staying a weekend with Grace and Luke and we're grateful for having found them! We know that he was given the same love and attention as he gets at home and we really appreciated updates and photos during his time with them. They even accommodated some schedule delays on pickup without missing a beat. We wouldn't hesitate at all to have Rupert back with them for a dogcation anytime. Thanks Grace and Luke!

Great and quick communication. Encouraged us to visit them first to make sure our dog was comfortable before his stay. Very pleasant couple. Everything was perfect! Will definitely use them again.

We have a large, fenced-in backyard that is a crowd favorite over here with all our furry friends. When the weather is nice our pup groups spend most of their time enjoying lots of supervised playtime outdoors. A typical day

While we typically rely on backyard playtime to get your dog's energy out, we also live one block from Lake Harriet. If you have a high-energy pup who needs a little more exercise, we are more than happy to get our steps in and enjoy the beautiful view of the lake while your dog sniffs all the new smells and enjoys an exciting 3-mile walk! What to Expect During Your Dog's Stay With Us: We want you to feel at ease while your pup is in our care and we understand how stressful and scary it can be to leave your baby with someone new! We will send photos throughout the day of your pup enjoying their dogcation and will send one longer update per day of how they are adjusting to our home, funny moments, or special memories we have with them ? We also want you to feel free to contact us at any time to check in on your pup. Even if you want to call on speaker phone and talk to them, we are happy to accommodate!

Availability

Schedule: Typically Luke or I am home at all times during the week. If your dog is staying with us over a weekend there are times we will both leave the house for a maximum of 2 hours. If we are both gone we prefer to have dogs crated in our home to prioritize safety while we are away. We also have cool air going through the house to prevent any overheating and indoor Blink cameras facing each dog so we can check on them all while we are away. We are happy to send you a clip of your dog on our Blink camera as well if you are interested in seeing how they do while we are gone! 😊
