For over 30 years, I’ve been a dog caretaker. There are currently two pups in my household, along with my 15-year-old son, who is also a serious animal lover. I was in the third grade when I started watching my teachers’ pets, which I guess made me a bit of a teacher’s pet. Even at a young age, I felt a deep connection and love for all living creatures. In fact, I wanted to be a veterinarian for most of my youth. Sadly I didn’t pursue this line of work, but I think I have the sweet, caring, and responsible personality of someone who can be entrusted with another life, especially our wonderful four-legged friends. My two dogs are a huge part of my family, and I could never imagine mistreating them or any other beloved pet. I really see them as my children, so much so, I bake homemade treats for them all the time. Some friends joke I should go into a side business making dog biscuits, but I’d rather do that for fun––my way of showing my dogs how much I treasure them. Depending on your dog’s diet and health restrictions, I’d be more than happy to make special treats for your pup too. I work from home in a nice and quiet part of town with friendly and kind neighbors. I’m around all day to keep my dogs company as well as your pup. We’ll go on walks and have plenty of play time, but I will also let them be dogs and chase each other in our backyard or snooze on the couch, whatever they want to do! Our home is somewhat new and has a mix of wood and carpeted floors with a doggy door to our backyard, so your dog can roam around freely. I am also happy to take care of cats, but I will probably keep them in my room or my son’s room since my dogs can get rambunctious with certain cats. I’m your typical work-from-home mom, so I also love to cook and hang out with friends, and travel when I get the chance. I have a really flexible schedule, so I’m open to whatever arrangement works best for you and your pup.
