Former Vet Tech and Dog Handler!
Pet care experience
Hello! A little bit about me: I have always had an affinity for animals. I rescued all the things to my mother’s dismay while growing up. I wanted to be a veterinarian. I worked in a vet clinic from the time I was 15 until I completed college. I obtained my BS degree in Zoology (the study of animals) and I even worked in a clinic after college for 10 months, between seasonal biology positions. I became a Biologist, as being outdoors suits me more. I worked as a Biologist for 13 years, dealing with a variety of animals. I was a snake detector Dog Handler for 4 years. I worked with black labs; training and exercising them was daily part of the job. I was a Project Leader for a program that used dogs to detect the Coconut Rhinocerous Beetle in Guam. I have lots of dog experience! I have always had a personal dog since the time I was in college. I have had a black lab, a lab/rott mix, a husky, and I currently have a chihuahua mix, a terrier, and 5 chickens. I also occasionally foster dogs for a local rescue. It has given me a ton of experience with different personality types. If your small dog is shy or anxious, I am the Petsitter for you! I hiked every day for my job as a biologist and I can take your dogs on walks to the Masonic cemetery, Laurelwood, Hendrix Park, or just a jaunt through the neighborhood! They will be in good hands with me! I only take dogs up to 25 pounds, so if you have a small dog that is uncomfortable around large dogs, I'm the sitter for you! Also, I only take up to four dogs at a time, so they can receive a lot of individual attention. I can work with or without crates. I like to mimic what the dog is used to at his home environment. I like using crates during feeding time if there are multiple dogs to prevent food aggression issues. I will only put your dog in a crate if they are comfortable with it, and with your permission. I understand that some dogs have been traumatized by crates. If you are looking for long term doggie daycare, there will be a discount depending on how many days per week your pup needs care. Contact me for more info!
Reviews
Ginger took wonderful care of my elderly chi, who essentially had a mini vacation while I was gone.
Ginger is great to work with! I always feel that my dog is well taken care of, she sends plenty of updates and pictures, and is flexible and accommodating with drop off and pick up times. I have great peace of mind when I drop off my dog with Ginger!
I have been taking my dog, Sophie to Ginger for years. Sophie LOVES Ginger and her family! Sophie has some separation anxiety and she willingly goes to Gingers without hesitation and it is FUN for her She gets to play with other small dogs and runs around the yard and the house having fun. Ginger is warm and freely gives Sophie the affection she craves. Sophie goes on walks around the neighborhood with Ginger's dogs. The doggies love to play out in the yard but also to "chill" on their furniture...a dog's rightful place! I implicitly trust Ginger's judgement....she was a Vet Tech and has the experience and knowledge to be able to take watchful care of my doggie when she is there. Ginger is THE BEST!!!!
Great host! Super responsive and sent lots of updates and photos which made leaving my dog much easier. Perfect place for small dogs!

I have a completely safe fenced-in backyard. I have 2 small dogs that sometimes like to play with other dogs their size, but if your dogs don’t like playing, they quickly figure that out. I do have chickens, and even though they have their own fenced area, I ask your dog to be somewhat chicken friendly. I can’t have dogs barking at the chickens and running along their area, because it causes them stress. I ask that you bring a crate and/or bed/blanket for your dog so that he/she feels safe and can be separated if need be during mealtime or any other time.

Small dogs only please. I can take dogs a bit larger (up to 25 pounds) if they are very respectful around little dogs. They must get along well with other small dogs. My chi mix and other that come here have mixed feelings about larger dogs, so I am currently not taking dogs larger than 25 pounds. I am keeping this a safe space for little ones. I would like to know if they are housebroken, and if they have separation anxiety or any other behaviors that need special attention. If they have accidents in the house, I ask that you potentially bring diapers, but we can also discuss alternatives at the meet and greet.
A typical day
We can walk to the forested cemetery with trails by by house, or go for a neighborhood walk! And there will be LOTS of snuggling on the couch! I also have a back yard where they can get the zoomies out. In the summer we spend lots of time back there gardening and just hanging out!

Availability
Currently, this is my full time job! Occasionally I do have to leave to run errands, but if you have a dog that can’t be left unattended, we can discuss and come up with a solution. My husband also works from home a few days a week and he loves to help. I also have a 15 yr old daughter who provides extra snuggles during the summer or on the weekends!
