No longer accepting clients

Pet care experience

I'm sorry, but I am no longer accepting clients as of August 23. My home set-up and my own dogs are not as suitable as I'd hoped to accommodate guests dogs. Thank you for your interest, and my best wishes to you and to your dog. I hope you find the most perfect dog-sitter in your own area! There are some wonderful homes out there, and one will be just right for you and your dog.

I have known Gina for more than 35 years and she knows more about dogs than anyone I know. She has devoted her life and career to dogs, including writing scores of books about animal care. Gina is a veterinary medical writer, and while not a vet, she is very knowledgable about dog care. She also has a heart of gold, and cares about all animals but dogs are her primary focus. She would make a great dog sitter because she's responsible and caring, and would never not give the job her fullest attention. I would trust her with my dogs in a nano-second.

Information Gina S. would like to know about your pet

I have a special fondness for retrievers and herding dogs, and they will love staying here. I have Chuck-Its for retrieving and stock tanks full of cool water for cooling off. My home is best suited for happy, easy-going dogs who love people, love all other dogs and are relatively well-mannered. There are dogs who aren't a good match here, though, and I can't accept them. Toys dogs, short-muzzled dogs (bulldogs, pugs, etc.) and any fighting-type or guarding-type breeds or mixes. Dogs with silky, long coats will also be better in a more manicured environment than my micro-ranch. I love all dogs, always have, always will -- but some aren't well-suited to my home, canine family and property. A safe, fun stay is my goal! I can care for some dogs with special needs, such as those coming back from orthopedic surgery -- just ask. Vax status can include titers for non-rabies vax. Rabies must be current, no titers accepted. If you're a raw feeder, no problem. I have experience, and a huge freezer!

A typical day

For an additional charge, my next-door neighbor (who walks my dogs regularly) will take yours for a 30-45 minute leashed walk on our nearby bridle trail and farm roads. Please inquire! Yes, all dogs sleep on the bed if they want to, or on comfortable dog beds throughout the house. (Puppies will be crated, however, as part of their training.)
