Pet care experience
I am currently a 4th year veterinary student at Long Island University and will graduate as a veterinarian in 2024. I have devoted my life to animals and I understand how much a dog can mean to someone. I've worked as a dog walker since I was about 13 years old and since then I've volunteered at Humane Societies, animal shelters, and have worked in multiple veterinary clinics. Pets can range from our running buddies, couch potato tv watchers, family members, best friends, etc. Whatever the case, I want to provide the best experience and keep your dog's tail wagging. I have years of clinical experience as I am currently working at a veterinary hospital and have been for years, so I'm able to give any medications or specific medical care if need be!

Gia is a wonderful dog sitter and walker. I have a 2 year old Aussie with tons of energy and Gia always makes sure he has a great walk that gets out all his energy. She has watched Flynn on multiple occasions and always provides updates and follows all requested instructions. Would 10/10 recommend her for all your pet sitting and walking needs!

I truly think an animal's time away from an owner can be stressful on the pet, so forming a bond between me and the dog is crucial. I want both the client and owner to feel as ease. I like to get to know the pet more prior to petsitting, whether that be knowing their favorite toys, activities, treats, etc., so I can provide that experience for them. I also live close to central park so I'm aware of a lot of the best trails and times to go! Depending on what level of socialization your dog needs/desires, I can keep them away from dogs or bring them to play at a dog park, whichever is requested.

I like to know every bit of information the owner will share. I’ve pet say a lot of dogs in my life and I know owners who leave no list, and I know owners who have left a binder for me - and either of those work! I know what it’s like to leave your pet with someone and I’m all ears when it comes to what you want me to know. I think it’s especially important to know any medical issues your dog has to keep an eye out for.
A typical day
I love to run and go on long walks - I have experience with handling dogs, especially after years working in a clinic! I like to ask the owner for their preference as well. I know all pets have their own likes and dislikes and I want to emulate that as much as I can so the pet feels at home

I am currently a veterinary student doing clinical rotations, so my schedule is pretty flexible. I am able to stay overnight at houses if needed!
