While I won’t be caring for client’s pets in my apartment due to a very timid cat, my cat is on a strict diet, which I keep track of myself (I don’t trust that she won’t break feeders and get extra food), so I plan on giving that same care to my client’s pets. Healthy animals are better off in so many ways, no matter how “starving” a cat or dog may tell you she is. I try and give my cat plenty of enrichment so she gets exercise, take her out on my patio to see the outside, and give her lots and lots of cuddles. For your pet, I plan on making sure their diet is appropriate as you deem fit (if you free feed them because they’re highly active, I will do so, if you give them a set amount, I’ll do that), keeping them entertained, brush them, give them pets if they want them, and take them outside if they are meant to be outside (see: cats). Pets only have their life with us. Nothing else exists for them, so especially when it’s a stranger, I want them to feel as happy as possible to distract from the fact that their human(s), the most important thing in their life, is gone for a short time. That’s my ultimate goal.
