Dog FITTER - making it about them!
Pet care experience
Watching other people’s dogs started when I was a teen, many years ago. I never knew why people asked me to watch their dogs back then but now I feel, they must have seen something in me that I didn’t know about myself. I love all dogs. Pet owners have always left it up to their animals to choose me...and, I've never been turned down! Dogs love the yard here at the house. It is fully fenced and it’s nearly an acre. My husband helps since his retirement and has joked about having a Doggy Ray Care. You guessed it, his name is Ray. When dogs are left alone, which is rare and for short stints, we have pens set up inside the house. These are movable fences. Inside a pen, we keep a dog bed, and water bowl. I've been sitting for people's dogs, as an adult, since 2010 and had been asked to return frequently. I traveled to other states to spend time with dogs, pigs, chickens, and horses! Now, we only board dogs. I've cared for all kinds of animals from one night up to to four months. Breeds have included: bloodhound, pitbull, mini-pinscher, chihuahua, labrador retriever, blue heeler, german shepherd, golden retriever, Airedale, standard Poodle, wheaten terrier, Chesapeake bay retriever, Alaskan malamute, siberian husky, highland terrier, Great Pyrenees...etc. I am also an artist and writer. I've published a book about a fundraising system for non-profits and my art is in Gallery 113 in Colorado Springs. I’ve opened two galleries in Woodland Park and one is an art studio space. I am different from other sitters because my time with your animal(s) is like therapy for me. I've been known to say, "I'm receiving fur therapy this week" to friends when I spend time sitting for animals. In the past I've given medication and baths, which has happened after a dog has found a mud puddle! I've also given special food to an older horse in a pasture with other horses. This task required keeping the other horses away while the older horse ate. Certainly a challenge, which made for great feelings of accomplishment!
Reviews
This is the first time with Gayle and Ray. I cannot recommend them enough. Our dog Lady came back a very well taken care of and happy dog.
Our 3 doggies were well taken care of by Gayle! She sent pictures and I could tell our pups settled in and weren’t nervous at all. We will definitely use Gayle again.
I’ve written a review about Gayle before, but my dogs most recent stay is worthy of another. My dog has been going to Gayle for dog sitting for about a year now, and I honestly have no complaints. During my dogs most recent stay Gayle recognized that my dog was not acting normal, and she didn’t hesitate to let me know. Unfortunately my dog got sick and ended up needing to see the vet while under Gayle’s care (a terrifying ordeal for any dog parent). Gayle handled the situation perfectly, ensuring my dog was taken care of, that the vet had all the info they needed, and providing me with constant communication. I am so thankful for Gayle’s vigilance and communication, my dog could’ve ended up very sick had Gayle not been such an amazing care giver. She went above and beyond to ensure my dog was taken care of and treated her like one of her own. Outside of my family, Gayle is the only person I trust watching my pup.
Gayle is the best! My dog loves it when she stays there! Highly recommend!

We have a fenced yard and have never had a dog escape. For the jumpers, we have a line we can fasten them to, which runs the depth of the yard. Dogs have never jumped the fence. We keep dogs from different families separated if they don’t get along. We are experienced with giving medication, shots and taking care of wounds. We’ve raised dogs of our own since becoming adults.
