I grew up on five acres of land, caring for multiple animals at once. We never had less than three dogs, and it was my job to care for them, train them, and keep track of them. Dogs give me energy and developing an understanding and bond with them gives me great pleasure. When humans give me trouble, I know I can always turn to my furry friends. Growing up my parents told me the story of our beloved (to the point of legend) golden retriever, Sundance. We were at the beach, and I had wandered off towards the water (I was about 4 at the time), and a wave took me under. I was lost to my parents, but Sundance dove in to save me. I've been indebted and attached to dogs ever since.
