I have had dogs and cats in my house for 35 years. I firmly believe pets are the best thing to reduce stress and have a friend when you need one! I currently have 2 adopted cats, our last dog passed on in 2015. Having pets around is just like having an extended family. They provide that warm loving when you come home from a long day, they don't ask for much, just food, water and love. Now that I have some spare time, I feel obliged to dedicate my time to take care of animals that need someone to take care of them so they can continue to be an integral part of their family. After everything my previous and current pets have provided to me, this is a way to honor the love and friendship they gave to me.
