Very experienced Animal trainer!

Pet care experience

I have over 10 years of experience as a dog trainer and behaviorist in Portland, Los Angeles, and Orange County. I am very active, health conscious, and trained in animal first aid and CPR so you can expect that during my time with your dog they will be having the most fun while being in the best hands possible! I am very comfortable and experienced with taking care of diabetic, senior, or other types of dogs that require strict medication regimes, be it pills or injections. I have worked with many different breeds; puppies to senior doggies; special needs dogs including, deaf, blind, senior, and on medication; and even aggressive dogs. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me. I have an extremely flexible schedule and welcome last minute arrangements. Thanks for reading, I look forward to meeting you and your pups! Why I love dog sitting - Due to my own unique traits I am able to relate to animals and how they process life in a different way as us. The heightened sense of noise, smell, light, and vibes of different people and things all play a role in how our beloved dog's comprehend each moment. It is in this ability I was able to appreciate my uniqueness as not a burden, but as a gift. A gift that I use to be a friend and a voice for animals. A little about my background with animals - As a child my parents would adopt dogs from the shelter and foster them for months until we found ideal families for them. Growing up, my best friend was a German shepherd/gray wolf mix. We were inseparable. We'd camp, canoe, explore, sleep together. After he passed I was heartbroken and until I met a good friend who is a very well known behaviorist and scent detection trainer. I worked with her for 5 years and helped raise one of her Australian Shepherds, helped with training cancer detection, search and rescue, and therapy dogs... As well as agility and confirmation. I had the opportunity to save the life of very young Australian shepherd and we have been inseparable since she adopted me in 2011! Meet my pets Katy - 6 year old female Blue Merle Australian Shepherd. Trained as a canine cancer detection dog and recognized as being one of the first dogs to detect in-situ breast cancer, 8 months before a medical test was able to verify! CGC Trained. Scent Detection Trained. Cancer Detection Dog. Service Animal. Pet Passport Holder. Unfortunately, she can't have a Flyer Miles account. She is a firm yet gentle Alpha that does not herd or nip when playing unlike most Aussies. She absolute loves big dogs! And instantly takes on a loving and playful maternal role with puppies. Experience administering medication- Absolutely! I have experience with diabetic dogs that are very stubborn, elderly and disabled dogs with strict medication and schedule regiments, diabetic cats, etc.

This was our first time leaving our three boys and home in the hands of a stranger, but Garrett was awesome and Rover made the process so smooth. With a senior dog on prescription food and meds, a dog with anxiety and personal space issues, and a very independent cat, we know our herd can be a bit of a handful. Garrett was totally comfortable with all three pets during our meet-and-greet and we had complete confidence in him– we weren't disappointed. He gave us regular updates and sent us awesome action shots of everyone playing ball and hanging out in the backyard daily which gave us peace of mind. Our pets and home were all just as we'd left them, though I think the boys were sad when they realized their new BFF wasn't coming back to throw the ball for them the next day. We'd happily hire Garrett again!

Garrett did a great job walking Lucca. He provides photos of each walk and from what I can tellx my pup enjoyed her walks! She even made a new friend, Katy, Garrett's pup!

This is the 2nd time I've used Garrett and I can't be happier! I can always count on him...and he goes above and beyond. Not only does he come and stay/feed/walk Mya, but he also takes her out to play with his dog Katy, and spends TIME with my girl Mya! He sends me photos of Mya having fun with him and Katy, and he even ran out to grab Mya more kibble because she ran out! I come home to a happy girl... and knowing that Mya is well taken care of and loved while I am gone is priceless! I give Garrett 5 plus stars!
